Before the archaeological excavation at 18 Hoang Dieu (Hanoi) in 2002, historical researchers had almost no idea about Thang Long porcelain or practical Vietnamese ceramics used in the Thang Long Royal Palace through the dynasties. However, in the largest archaeological excavation in Vietnam to date at the relic site, experts found many items reserved for the King.

In particular, there are two extremely sophisticated bowls, the most special is that when placed under light, it can pass through, creating an extremely unique visual effect, recognized by the Prime Minister as a national treasure in 2021. Based on the shape, motifs, decorative patterns, especially in terms of stratigraphy and exposed relics of the artifact, it can be seen that the bowls were made during the Early Le Dynasty, dating from around the 15th - 16th century.

The smaller bowl, coded A22-3071, was discovered in pit A22, in area A, archaeological site 18 Hoang Dieu, along with many high-grade ceramic relics from the Le So period. The location of the bowl's discovery is in the sedimentary layer of the stream, located between areas A and B. The bowl has a spherical shape, a round, evenly curved body, a flared mouth, rounded edges and slightly bent outwards. The base is high, the walls are very thin, experts often compare it to being as thin as an eggshell. The average thickness is only 0.15 - 0.3cm, the bone is opaque white, the glaze is clear, the pattern is embossed in the inside before being glazed.

About 2cm from the mouth towards the bowl are 2 raised lines, below is the main pattern: a pair of dragons are shown in a flying position in the clouds, heads raised high, mouths spitting out pearls. The body is curved into many segments, the tail stretches straight back like a rudder, fins raised high. The dragon has 4 legs, 5 toes spread wide as if wanting to grasp the precious pearl in front. In particular, the dragon has a mane and a raised forehead. The dragon's legs with spread claws are a symbol of strength, symbolizing the power of the emperor.
