Broiler chicken prices decrease - Vinh Long Online

(VLO) According to some chicken farmers, after Tet, the price of chicken meat has continuously decreased, at times down to 48,000-49,000 VND/kg, currently the selling price fluctuates between 60,000-70,000 VND/kg, causing many farmers to worry. The main reason is the abundant supply, chickens from large-scale farms are massively released to the market, creating pressure on consumption.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Oanh - Director of KOT Western Clean Chicken Cooperative (Trung Hiep commune, Vung Liem district), said: Currently, the cooperative has about 13,000-14,000 commercial chickens. If during Tet, the price of chicken reached 90,000 VND/kg, in the past month it has decreased by nearly 50%, but consumption is slow, traders only choose to buy hens.

Meanwhile, the selling price of chicken must reach 75,000 VND/kg or more for farmers to make a profit, meaning the cooperative is losing about 5,000-10,000 VND/kg of chicken sold.
