A positive sign in Vietnam's coffee exports is the increasing proportion of processed coffee exports. Coffee price today 20/2/2025
World coffee prices rose again on both London and New York exchanges. The market recovered after previous days of downward adjustments, while inventories decreased and speculators increased buying again, helping both exchanges rise.
Domestic coffee prices today, February 20, traded in the range of 132,200 - 133,500 VND/kg. Domestically, according to a report from the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the coffee harvest has successfully ended in many localities. In 2025, the La Nina phenomenon is forecast to replace El Nino, which could affect Brazil's coffee growing regions. This increases the risk of frost, which could destroy coffee trees and seriously affect expected output.
Although in the long term, coffee prices are forecast by many sources to decrease by the end of 2025. But in the medium and short term, there are still many factors supporting the increase of arabica.
After a strong rally that saw arabica set 14 consecutive records this year, prices have pulled back slightly. However, traders say arabica is unlikely to fall much further given the outlook for a lower 2025-26 crop in Brazil.
Arabica prices remain supported by tight supplies and forecasts of a smaller crop this year in the world’s number one coffee grower and exporter, Brazil. Supply concerns remain the main cause as the two major Arabica sources, Brazil and Colombia, are both volatile. While Brazil is likely to have a poor crop this year with output expected to fall by around 15%, Colombia’s coffee is being affected by concerns about tariffs on US goods.
As of February 11, Brazilian producers had sold 88% of their 2024-25 crop, up from 79% at the same time last year and the five-year average of 82%. Advance sales of 2025-26 crop have been slow, reaching just 13%, well below the four-year average of 22%, reflecting a lack of new supply and farmers’ reluctance to sell.
Lower-than-average rainfall in Brazil also added to supply concerns and supported coffee prices. Brazil’s largest arabica-growing region, Minas Gerais, received just 12.4 mm of rain last week, or 20% of the historical average, according to Somar Meteorologia. Brazil is the world’s largest producer of arabica.
Robusta coffee prices rose for a second straight session. However, ICE-monitored robusta inventories hit a nearly five-month high of 4,603 lots on January 31, but then fell to a nearly two-month low of 4,297 lots on February 18. Robusta inventories later recovered slightly to 4,355 lots.
