The photo exhibition “Youth with the homeland sea and islands” organized by the Propaganda Department of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee in coordination with the Command of Naval Region 3 and the People's Committee of Hoang Sa District (Da Nang City) has brought beloved Hoang Sa and Truong Sa closer to the public, especially the youth.
The exhibition introduces 152 documents and images on 3 topics: History of Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa archipelago and map of Hoang Sa island district in English and Vietnamese; Activities to protect Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands in the current period; Youth of Quang Nam, Da Nang with their homeland's seas and islands.
In addition to introducing some images, maps, and documents on Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago and images of Quang Nam fishermen's offshore fishing activities, the exhibition also introduces images of sea and island activities of Quang Nam and Da Nang youth.
Ms. Vo Thi Nhu Yen (Tan Thanh ward, Tam Ky city) and her family visited and commented that the images and documents on display here were very rich and valuable.
Because these are historical and legal evidences collected domestically and from countries around the world, including China. Thereby, proving Vietnam's undeniable sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
Tran Thanh Tinh, a member of the Tam Ky City Youth Union, shared: "The images of soldiers and fishermen working day and night at sea to maintain the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland have stirred up in me deep emotions and national pride."
Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said that Quang Nam has a coastline of over 125km, two island communes of Tan Hiep, Hoi An city and Tam Hai, Nui Thanh district; with many beautiful beaches and relatively large fishing grounds... Therefore, the locality always identifies the importance of propaganda work to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
In recent times, propaganda about seas and islands has been carried out by all levels and sectors in the province in diverse forms, with rich content, and widely informed to all classes of people, especially the young generation.
Lieutenant Colonel Chu Quang Vinh - Head of Propaganda Department of Naval Region 3 said that the East Sea has an important economic and political position and plays a huge role in economic development, ensuring national defense and security.
Our Party and State always affirm a consistent viewpoint and stance on the rights and sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and Vietnam's rights over its sea areas and continental shelf, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and advocate resolving all disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means.
"Given the recent complicated developments in the East Sea, the publication of historical and legal documents and evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos to strengthen propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility of officers, soldiers and people in firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland is an important and necessary task that needs to be carried out regularly and long-term," Lieutenant Colonel Chu Quang Vinh assessed.
