EZLand donated 200 water tanks to people in Can Giuoc district, Long An province

Current status of saltwater intrusion and drought in Can Giuoc district

Can Giuoc District, located in the lower part of Long An Province, has long faced saline intrusion and drought, especially in the dry season. With its geographical location near the river mouth and directly affected by the Vam Co River system, this area regularly records high salinity, seriously affecting domestic water sources and agricultural production.

According to a report from the People's Committee of Can Giuoc district, in the dry season of 2024, about 6,150 households in 5 communes will face a shortage of clean water, with a need for domestic water support of up to 520 m³ per day.

The main cause of saltwater intrusion in Can Giuoc district is the decline in the flow from the upper Mekong River, combined with the phenomenon of rising sea levels due to climate change. Prolonged hot weather and sharp decline in rainfall in recent years have further aggravated the drought, causing saltwater contamination in wells and depleting water reserves. Many households have struggled to find clean water, even having to buy water at high prices from tankers or wait hours to get water from public water supply points.

Practical action from EZLand

Faced with the above situation, EZLand Company coordinated with Les Enfants Du Dragon and the Union of Friendship Organizations of Long An province to implement a program to donate 200 water tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 liters, to 100 households in the 3 most severely affected communes in Can Giuoc district, namely Long Hau, Tan Tap and Phuoc Lai.

This program not only demonstrates the social responsibility of the enterprise but also affirms the sustainable development orientation, deep concern for the environment, community and climate change issues that EZLand always pursues.

Donating water tanks not only helps people proactively store water during the rainy season but also reduces pressure on domestic water sources during the dry season. Each household received two water tanks, enough to meet basic living needs during the dry months. The tanks were designed to be sturdy, easy to install, and suitable for local climate conditions, ensuring long-term use.

People in the communes receiving support expressed their joy and gratitude for the concern of EZLand Company. Mr. Vo Van Hai, a resident of Tan Tap commune, Can Giuoc district, shared: "During the dry season last year, my family had to wake up from 1-2 am to wait for water but still did not have enough to use. Thanks to this water tank, we will feel more secure when we can store water to use gradually during the dry and salty season this year."
