Phu Yen land has a rich history and cultural depth with 2 special national monuments and 21 national monuments.
Phu Yen culinary specialties
In particular, Phu Yen cuisine with famous specialties such as Song Cau lobster, Cu Mong lagoon crab, Son Hoa sun-dried beef, ocean tuna... is loved by many tourists. "The harmonious combination of beautiful nature, simple people, and unique culture has created the beauty, attractiveness, and friendliness of Phu Yen" - Mr. My acknowledged.
If only relying on scenic spots, Phu Yen still cannot retain tourists.
However, tourists to Phu Yen usually do not stay long, on average only 3 days and 2 nights. Mr. Tran Minh Duc, Deputy Director of Long Phu Tourism Company, said that although Phu Yen has many famous landscapes, it is not enough to attract tourists to stay due to the lack of many entertainment services. Standard accommodation facilities are still very low, only about 7,400 rooms, while a neighboring province has about 16,000 rooms. Accommodation prices in Phu Yen are much higher than in Khanh Hoa.
Regarding cuisine, Phu Yen has many delicious dishes but there is a lack of information to access them. For example, when tourists come to Da Lat, many restaurants offer "Phu Yen chicken hotpot with e leaves". However, when tourists come to Phu Yen and want to enjoy the original dish of this land of Nau, they do not know where to find it.
"Phu Yen is famous for tuna, lobster and many famous rustic dishes such as 7-course braised pork, sun-dried beef with Son Hoa ant salt... but tourists lack information about these delicious dishes" - Mr. Duc said. That shows that promoting Phu Yen tourism still has many limitations.
Need to build Phu Yen tourism brand
In addition, tourism service establishments often do their own thing, and rarely support each other to build a common tourism brand. Phu Yen has many famous fish sauce villages such as Ganh Do, My Quan, Yen... but if tourists set foot in any restaurant from big to small in Phu Yen, it will be difficult to order a bowl of fish sauce handmade from these villages.
Most restaurants serve industrial fish sauce to diners. It’s not that tourists don’t know how to enjoy a bowl of pure fish sauce, it’s just that the price is higher, and serving customers won’t be as profitable as industrial fish sauce. Thus, even in their homeland, products from traditional craft villages have a hard time gaining a foothold.
Phu Yen province is focusing on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2030. That will be difficult to achieve if Phu Yen still cannot retain tourists.
