On the evening of April 14, 2024, at Da Lat Station, Vietnam Railways Corporation organized the opening of a night train route from Da Lat to Trai Mat called "Da Lat Night Journey". Accordingly, in addition to the regular train pairs during the day, Vietnam Railways Corporation will organize two more train pairs DL11/DL12 and DL3/DL14, departing from Da Lat Station at 6:15 p.m. (DL11) and 8:20 p.m. (DL13) to serve passengers. In the opposite direction, train DL12 departs from Trai Mat Station at 7:15 p.m. and DL14 departs at 9:20 p.m.

“Da Lat Night Journey” is a tourism product that the railway industry has put into operation to continue to bring passengers new experiences, feel the beauty of Da Lat at night, contribute to diversifying services and developing local tourism.

The Da Lat - Trai Mat route is 6.7km long, the remaining part of the Thap Cham - Da Lat route, 84km long, connecting Ninh Thuan with Lam Dong, put into operation in 1932, built by the French. This is the only unique cog railway in Vietnam serving tourists visiting Da Lat city. With a train journey of about 1 hour (30 minutes on the way there and 30 minutes on the way back) and a slow train speed, during the day, tourists can comfortably relax and admire the poetic beauty of Da Lat, but at night, the beauty of Da Lat is extremely magical and different.

Different from the bustling and crowded Da Lat, when coming to Trai Mat, visitors can feel the gentle, peaceful atmosphere with pine hills rustling in the wind, the poetic scenery captivates people.

Before boarding the train, visitors can freely visit and check-in at Da Lat station - a unique ancient architectural work inspired by the legendary Langbiang mountain and the traditional Central Highlands communal house roof or check-in at ancient train cars in Indochina style.

The difference on the “Da Lat Night Journey” is that in addition to enjoying music, artichoke tea and using free wifi like other trains, on the journey, visitors can also enjoy a dinner party upon request (not included in the ticket price).

On the opening day, VNR also officially opened a screening room for a documentary about the history of Da Lat station, the Thap Cham - Da Lat cog railway; organized a mini show of Trinh Cong Son's music night with the theme "Thanh am Moc and Da Lat" with the performance of singer Moc San (Moc San is a son of Da Lat hometown, successfully conquered Trinh music lovers with her rustic, haunting, and melancholy voice and was dubbed "The new breeze of Trinh music"), Quoc Dai, Hoang Minh Vien, Hien Le, Leo Minh Tuan, guitarist Nhat Dong, saxophonist Hoang Thi. In addition, visitors can also enjoy the performance of the Ao Dai collection called Legend of Da Lat and Da Lat four seasons of flowers by designer Do Nguyen. Currently, relevant parties are also considering licensing the organization of regular music programs at night at Da Lat Station.

With “Da Lat Night Journey”, DS hopes that this will be a unique product, contributing to the development of tourism and economy of Da Lat at night and is the starting product for the formation of a complete service chain supply, so that Da Lat station, Da Lat - Trai Mat route becomes an indispensable cultural, tourist, culinary destination... for tourists when coming to Da Lat.

Night trains include DL11/12, DL13/14 (departing from 6:15 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. daily) with ticket prices ranging from VND72,000 to VND100,000 for a round trip. When passengers buy round-trip tickets, they get a 25% discount, and when passengers buy group tickets of 10 or more people, they get a 15% to 40% discount.
