Moscow commercial flight opens

Russian airline Aeroflot has just launched a commercial flight route from Moscow (Russia) - Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa).

On March 23, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that he had just coordinated with Cam Ranh International Airport and the representative office of Russian national airline Aeroflot to welcome the first commercial flight from Moscow (Russia) to Khanh Hoa.

Leaders of departments and branches of Khanh Hoa province presented flowers and congratulated the tourists.

The first flight departed from Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow and landed at Cam Ranh International Airport at 9:30 a.m. the same day with nearly 300 passengers.

Getting off the plane, Russian tourists were very happy to travel to Khanh Hoa in warm weather and were warmly welcomed by leaders of Khanh Hoa Tourism Department.

Russian national airline Aeroflot operates the Moscow - Cam Ranh route using Airbus A350-900 (capacity of 315 passengers) and A330-300 (capacity of 295 passengers) with a frequency of 3 flights/week.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented gifts to the first tourists arriving at Cam Ranh International Airport.

Russia is a traditional tourist market for Khanh Hoa tourism. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa have been suspended for a long time, so the number of Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa in recent years is still low compared to the potential.

During a working trip to Russia in mid-March this year, a delegation from Khanh Hoa province had a working session with representatives of Russian national airline Aeroflot to restore direct flights from Moscow to Cam Ranh International Airport.

The leader of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that opening a direct flight will promote tourism between the two countries. Restoring the flight route from Moscow to Khanh Hoa will not only shorten travel time but also reduce airfares, creating favorable conditions to promote the growth of the Russian tourist market to Khanh Hoa. At the same time, it will contribute to promoting trade and bilateral cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.

Previously, on March 17, Russian airline Azur Air resumed flights from 11 Russian cities to Khanh Hoa, but these were only charter flights (customers rented an entire plane).

Azur Airlines operates flights from 11 Russian cities (Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Novokuznetsk, Blagoveshchensk) to Khanh Hoa with a frequency of 12 flights in March; from April to June, the number increases by 50-55 flights/month; from July onwards, the number increases by 90-100 flights/month.

According to information from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in addition to Azur Air and Aeroflot, airlines: Ikar, North Wind and Red Win… are planning to open flights to Cam Ranh this summer.
