Today (February 14, the 5th day of Tet) is the end of the Lunar New Year holiday, the flow of people from the Central provinces traveling on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway has increased dramatically, causing vehicles to move 6 km slower.
According to VietNamNet, at the intersection of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway with National Highway 1, traffic police were present to direct vehicles on this expressway to move in the direction of the national highway at Km 63 to reduce congestion ahead. Meanwhile, traffic in the opposite direction was clear.
At this intersection, the line of cars lining up to move onto the national highway stretches for more than 6km. Some vehicles weave into the emergency lane to go faster.
Mr. Vo Van Hai (living in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) said that his family was worried about traffic jams and wanted to rest, so on the morning of the last day of the holiday, the family decided to return to the city early.
"My family went to Nha Trang for a trip. After breakfast, we hit the road. We didn't expect to get stuck in traffic at noon on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway," Hai shared.
Sharing the same concern about traffic jams, Ms. Tuyet Nga (from Xuan Loc, Dong Nai) said that her family went there on the morning of the 5th day of Tet to save time.
"I planned to leave this morning so everyone could rest, but when we got to the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway, we were blocked from entering. I think I'll go back home and leave early tomorrow morning," said Ms. Nga.
Highway Patrol Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) mobilized forces to quickly divert traffic along the national highway, limiting the flow of cars entering the highway. At the same time, the highway management blocked the entrances in all directions at this intersection.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Xuan An, Captain of Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6, informed that during the Lunar New Year holidays, the number of vehicles going on spring outings increased, then returning to work, causing cars to move slowly on the highway. At toll stations, some vehicles encountered situations such as insufficient account balance, faulty cards or cards not yet affixed.
