In recent times, anti-corruption work in Dong Nai province has been focused on and implemented strongly, synchronously, resolutely and methodically; creating high consensus in society, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the trust of cadres, party members and people.
At a recent working session with the Government Inspectorate's Working Group on law enforcement in 2024 and the results of implementing the new Law on Anti-Corruption, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung said that in recent times, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee has regularly paid attention to anti-corruption work, considering it a key and regular task in its direction and administration.
According to Mr. Nguyen Son Hung, in the past, the rate of detecting violations through inspection was low. Self-inspection and detection of corruption by some agencies, organizations and units was still weak. Detection of corruption was mainly through public opinion, denunciations or when competent agencies inspected and audited. However, in recent years, all levels and sectors have paid attention to leading and directing the work of preventing and combating corruption.
The work of inspection, supervision and investigation to detect, recommend and handle corruption has received more attention. The work of detecting, transferring, receiving and handling information about economic crimes, corruption and negativity has had many positive changes and achieved important results.
In particular, units and localities have deployed, thoroughly grasped and disseminated legal regulations on anti-corruption to the grassroots; the activities of agencies and units have been public and transparent. The declaration of assets and income of cadres, civil servants and public employees has been fully and properly implemented. Detected corruption cases have been handled according to the provisions of law; specialized forces on anti-corruption have been gradually strengthened.
According to the Provincial Inspectorate, from 2019 to 2023, the number of corruption-related cases detected and handled increased. Specifically, in 2019, the police investigation agencies at all levels handled 10 cases and 8 defendants; in 2020, they handled 12 cases and 13 defendants (2 cases from the previous period were transferred to 2 cases and 2 defendants); in 2021, they handled 10 cases and 11 defendants (6 cases from the previous period were transferred to 6 cases and 6 defendants); in 2022, the investigation agencies at all levels handled 19 cases and 24 defendants (8 cases from the previous period were transferred to 16 defendants, 1 case and 1 defendant were re-investigated); in 2023, the investigation agencies at all levels handled 41 cases and 46 defendants (12 cases from the previous period were transferred to 4 defendants, 3 cases and 1 defendant were re-investigated).
In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, investigation agencies at all levels in Dong Nai handled 30 cases/61 defendants (24 cases, 43 defendants transferred from the previous period) for acts related to corruption.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung said that in the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee will continue to lead and direct agencies, units and localities to effectively implement measures to prevent and combat corruption and solutions to improve the quality of anti-corruption and anti-negativity work according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
At the same time, improve the quality of operations of internal affairs and judicial agencies; strengthen political and ideological education to change the awareness of the Party and people about the responsibility to prevent and combat corruption, waste and negativity in the entire political system and society.
Continue to effectively implement Regulation No. 116 of the Politburo on directing, orienting, providing information, and propagating anti-corruption and anti-negativity to help cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees raise awareness, roles and responsibilities in prevention work, in order to minimize acts of corruption and negativity.
Regarding long-term solutions, the Provincial People's Committee has recommended to the Government Inspectorate to soon build a national database system on asset and income declaration management and soon issue instructions on the process, procedures, and content of asset and income control so that asset and income control agencies can uniformly implement.
