Tens of thousands of people are members of the scholarship fund.

The education promotion fund movement has developed strongly in Dong Nai in recent years. According to statistics, up to now, the whole province has 170 education promotion associations at the commune, ward and town levels. There are 1,140 education promotion branches with nearly 1,700 education promotion committees, an increase of 63 committees compared to the same period in 2023. The whole province also has more than 13,700 education promotion groups with tens of thousands of members.

In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, members of the Association for the Promotion of Education at all levels in Dong Nai province contributed nearly 90 billion VND to the Education Promotion Fund. If calculated on a per capita basis, it reached 29,000 VND/person. From this fund, the Association for the Promotion of Education at all levels spent more than 85.4 billion VND on activities to award scholarships to encourage learning, encourage talents, and give learning tools to students.

Piggy bank raising movement is booming

A typical model of education promotion in Dong Nai today is the model of raising piggy banks to create an education promotion fund. Pig banks are raised everywhere, from schools to residential groups and in families. During the piggy bank opening ceremony on the occasion of Uncle Ho's birthday in May, the education promotion associations at all levels of Dong Nai province collected more than 15.7 billion VND. Also in the first 6 months of 2024, the education promotion associations of districts and cities mobilized 61 drop-out students to return to school to study.

Responding to the movement, many districts in Dong Nai have launched a movement to save money and raise piggy banks to promote education in the period 2023-2025. In Thong Nhat district, each member saves money and raises piggy banks to promote education and actively implements the slogan "Each member does a good deed to promote education".

Savings from raising piggy banks are used to support the education of children in each family, residential group, neighborhood, hamlet, commune, and town; helping students with difficult circumstances to achieve high academic results.

Every week after the flag salute, agencies, departments, and schools in the district will participate in putting their savings into piggy banks. Households save daily according to their ability or can collect scrap paper, bottles, etc. to sell to raise money for pigs.

In Trang Bom district, the piggy bank raising movement has been implemented in many schools. Typically, Dinh Tien Hoang Secondary School currently has more than 30 piggy banks being raised by teachers and students to help poor friends celebrate Tet and students in difficult circumstances.

The Vinh Thanh Commune Education Promotion Association (Nhon Trach District) also launched a movement to raise piggy banks to promote education in 2024. After the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week, the commune leaders directly launched the movement, calling on cadres, civil servants, public employees, and members of the Education Promotion Association to uphold the spirit of thrift and wholeheartedly care for the education of the younger generation.

Each learning promotion association and learning promotion committee keeps a piggy bank; every week after the flag salute, people will participate in putting savings into it.

For members who are commune officials, civil servants, party cell secretaries, hamlet chiefs, and hamlet front committee chiefs, each individual raises a piggy bank and saves money to feed the pig at least once a week. For hamlet learning promotion members, people save money every day depending on the ability of each family, or can collect scrap paper, bottles, etc. to sell and put the money in the piggy bank.

50% of the proceeds from pig farming will be used to give gifts and scholarships to disadvantaged students on the opening day of the new school year 2024-2025. The remaining 50% will be used to support the education of children in each family and each residential group in the commune; help disadvantaged students achieve high academic results and will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year.

In this commune, the piggy bank raising model has been deployed in all Party cells and mass organizations in the commune, becoming a meaningful movement to promote learning encouragement in the locality.

In addition to saving, after each meeting and on a weekly basis, the commune union also organizes for union members to collect scrap to sell and put money in piggy banks, mobilizing donors to join hands to contribute to spread the good values from this model. The money collected from the model will be divided into many scholarships awarded to poor students.
