A meaningful playground for Gen Z who love science

The National Science and Technology Competition for High School Students (VISEF) has just ended in Ho Chi Minh City with many proud achievements. The competition attracted 212 projects from 71 participating teams, an increase of 63 projects compared to last year. This is a testament to the fact that Gen Z is increasingly passionate about scientific research when properly inspired.

VISEF was first organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2013. This year, the annual competition was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training. Thanks to the assurance of professional, practical and inspirational factors, the competition has received more and more enthusiastic responses from society, and the quality of the program has been increasingly improved.

Specifically in 2024, the program contributed to bringing home a second prize in the System Software category at the ISEF international competition held in the United States.

VISEF originated from the annual International Science and Engineering Fair for Secondary School Students (ISEF), which was established in 1952. To date, ISEF is the world's largest international science and engineering fair for students, attracting thousands of contestants from 80 countries and territories.

Sharing at the VISEF 2025 award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong gave the contestants a quote from the late British Prime Minister Winston Churchill that he liked: 'Success is not the final destination, failure is not the end. What matters is the courage to keep going'.

Thanks to the Linearthinking method, two doctor brothers Nguyen Trung Nghia and Nguyen Trung Kien achieved IELTS scores of 7.5 and 8.0 respectively.

Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong hopes that whether they win or go home empty-handed, young people will continue to strive to study and continue to create value for the community. The path of scientific research is thorny, failure will happen often and only those who are always brave and persistent in "keeping the fire burning" will truly be the winners.
