Semi-automatic offside technology (SAOT) will be applied for the first time at the 2023 Asian Cup. This is the technology that was used and brought success at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Accordingly, SAOT will use 12 specialized cameras to accurately track the position of the ball and players on the field. All body positions related to offside are identified.
AFC considers this an important step towards improving the accuracy and integrity of refereeing decisions.
In addition to popularizing the new offside technology, AFC also informed the Vietnamese team about the mandatory regulations that must be followed when entering the tournament, especially issues related to commercial rights, as well as security and safety and preventing negativity in football.
The AFC's commercial rights protection department also inspected the training and competition equipment of the Vietnamese team to ensure that everything complied with the tournament's regulations down to the smallest details such as shirt number size, logo printed on the shirt and other equipment.
Head coach Philippe Troussier and the players then participated in filming and taking photos to serve the promotion and communication work for the 2023 Asian Cup Finals.
Then, at 6:30 p.m. on January 7 (10:00 p.m. Vietnam time), coach Philippe Troussier's team entered the second training session at the training ground in Doha, preparing for the friendly match with Kyrzyzstan on the afternoon of January 9 as a rehearsal before the 2023 Asian Cup.
