Last July, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team defeated the Indonesian team 2-0 in the final match of the world championship, with scores in the two sets of 21-15 and 21-12 respectively.
That victory helped Vietnamese sepak takraw successfully defend the championship title won in 2022, becoming the leading candidate for the gold medal in the women's sepak takraw event at the 19th ASIAD held in Hangzhou (China).
On the morning of October 3, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team once again met their "familiar" Indonesia in the final qualifying match to determine the team that would rank first in Group A. It should also be added that both teams were certain to make it to the semi-finals after their victories over Myanmar and Japan.

This time the match result was no longer different, when we won but with a score of 2-1, the scores of the games were very close, respectively 21-19, 19-21 and 21-19.
Coach Tran Thi Vui showed great respect for her opponent who had reached the final of the world championship: "Each match is different, previous results are only for reference and cannot be used to compare and evaluate the upcoming final match of ASIAD 19.
As in the match on October 3, both teams had already passed the group stage the day before, so the match only had the meaning of deciding the top spot in Group A.
In fact, both teams did not play their best. The Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team still fielded their strongest starting lineup, but did not execute their best techniques and tactics.

The same goes for the Indonesian team, who brought out a strong force but did not play at their full potential. This shows that this opponent has made great progress and has formidable calculations to change the results of all losses in the previous two matches."
Coach Tran Thi Vui continued: "No team is preparing for ASIAD 19 easily. On October 3, our opponent did not send out all their players, clearly intending to "hide their cards" that we could not have known in advance. We cannot be subjective.
We have to wait for them to attack before we can figure out a countermeasure. The 4-a-side event is tactical and very complicated. But the Vietnamese 4-a-side sepak takraw team will be determined to win to bring glory to the Fatherland."
