"Floodwood Village" is located in the middle of a field in Cam Ha Commune (Hoi An City), displaying many unique mascot collections made from dry firewood drifting along the flood. "Floodwood Village" was founded by Mr. Le Ngoc Thuan (45 years old, in Cam An Ward, Hoi An City) in 2022.

The Covid-19 outbreak caused work to stagnate, so Mr. Thuan went to the Thu Bon River to take a walk and accidentally discovered dry and rotten firewood drifting ashore with the flood water. He immediately collected it, brought it back, assembled it, and displayed it in homestays as decorative items in a minimalist, environmentally friendly style. Then he cherished the idea of making recycled items from flood firewood, meticulously carving them to create unique, soulful works of art.

His firewood products are all handmade. At first, they were just for display and gifts to friends, but after attracting customers because of their uniqueness, Mr. Thuan thought of doing business. He opened a carpentry workshop and turned his two restaurants into places to display, introduce and exhibit recycled wooden products.

Mr. Le Ngoc Thuan said he is choosing a direction that connects the community through a series of enjoying and experiencing the creation of local art products at a facility called "Firewood Village", in order to convey messages about culture, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Originally a chef but passionate about art and talented, Mr. Le Ngoc Thuan learned carpentry to "breathe life" into firewood products. "The products that I create with my own hands are like my soul. Therefore, I have to put my soul into each piece of firewood to have emotions and stories. For me, firewood is trash, creating works is like "cleaning up trash" for the environment," Mr. Thuan confided.
