Many activities to celebrate Spring and Tet
Releasing flower lanterns is one of the new activities that brings beautiful and impressive experiences and images on the occasion of Lunar New Year this year. On the evening of the 29th of Tet (January 28), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Provincial Youth Union and the Department of Education and Training organized "Flower lantern night - colors of youth", taking place on the embankment of the area from Lo bridge to Cai Ca bridge (Vinh Long city); Cai Von Nho bridge, Nguyen Van Thanh street (Cai Von ward, Binh Minh town).
According to our records in Vinh Long City on the night of the 29th of Tet, from Cai Ca Bridge to Lo Bridge, many people came to watch and release beautiful flower lanterns, praying for a new year of peace, happiness, and good luck.
While lighting the lanterns and releasing the lanterns with her daughter, not forgetting to ask an acquaintance to take a photo of the moment of releasing the lanterns on Tet holiday as a souvenir, Ms. Le Hong Ly, in Ward 4, shared: "With each lantern in my hand, I send my prayers into it, hoping for my family and everyone to have a happy new year and a prosperous business."

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh said that last year, with the efforts of the entire Party and the entire army, especially the solidarity of each person and each household, Vinh Long province has had new achievements.
The province has organized many activities for people to enjoy Spring and Tet in a joyful and warm way; to close a year of hard work and welcome the new year with faith in good things.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee added that, according to folklore, releasing flower lanterns is an activity to honor the spiritual values of Vietnamese people on major holidays, especially at the beginning of the new year.
This activity is meant to pray for national peace and prosperity; for every family to be warm, happy; for every person to always be lucky and successful in life.
Hopefully, this activity will bring more meaningful moments to the people and tourists, with the shimmering light of flower lanterns, carrying wishes and hopes for good things in the new year; helping people get closer together; uniting to build a warm and happy family; and making the homeland increasingly rich and beautiful.
In particular, to welcome the new spring, Vinh Long province has organized many cultural and artistic activities, hoping to bring a joyful spring to the people. Following the direction of the Organizing Committee of the province's major holidays, Vinh Long Radio and Television Station organized a special art program to celebrate the Party - celebrate the Spring of At Ty 2025 on the night of the 29th of Tet.
Proud melodies, lively spring songs, cheerful comedies, filled with meaningful wishes to welcome the new year. Especially the eye-catching fireworks display right after the entertainment program.
The brilliant fireworks, blooming in the sky, attracted the eyes and cheers of the people, blending with the music, the colors of the fireworks created a vibrant, joyful atmosphere. Many young people took the opportunity to capture the first beautiful moments of the new year.
At Tra On Town, on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year At Ty 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Tra On District to organize a ceremony to commemorate the 205th anniversary of the death of the Former Commander-in-Chief Dieu Bat Nguyen Van Ton (1820-2025), at Ong Tra On Tomb - National Intangible Cultural Heritage (Giong Thanh Bach Hamlet).
Within the framework of the death anniversary, many cultural, artistic and sports activities took place: Khmer pentatonic music performances, lion and dragon dances, ceremonial music performances of the three Kinh-Hoa-Khmer ethnic groups, art performances to celebrate the Party and welcome Spring... The activities took place on the 3rd and 4th of January every year, attracting a large number of people from Tra On and tourists from all over the country to celebrate the New Year.
Joining the team participating in the traditional cake making competition at the Lang Ong Festival, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung - teacher at Vinh Xuan Kindergarten (Tra On district) said: "This is the first year participating in the cooking competition, I feel very happy.
The team cooked dishes, including a map of Vietnam, to show national unity and commemorate the merits of our ancestors. Through this, we hope to send a message to young people to always remember their roots and show gratitude to their ancestors, and the closest of them are the people in their hometown of Tra On.

Along with preparing programs and activities to celebrate the New Year, the cities have increased the decoration and colorful flags to create an exciting, joyful atmosphere and new spirit for the year of the Snake.
“Following the Tet holiday” from the last days of December, we felt the excited and joyful atmosphere permeating every corner and road. The inner streets of Vinh Long City, Binh Minh Town and towns were covered with flags and flowers.

According to the Department of Construction, the province currently has 8 urban areas (UTs). In recent times, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the coordination of departments and branches, and the close management of local authorities, the appearance and technical infrastructure of the UTs have gradually changed with many positive changes, developing in accordance with the construction planning, making the UTs more and more beautiful and spacious. Key projects and works invested in have been implemented according to the approved planning, building and developing housing associated with the UT development planning.
In 2024, the Department focused on implementing the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Construction and the Provincial People's Committee; issued a plan for key tasks in 2024, specifying major tasks with key focus. Accordingly, the set plan targets were completed and exceeded, specifically: the rate of households using clean water from the centralized water supply system in the urban area reached 99.3%; the average housing area was 28.9m² floor area/person.
In 2025, the provincial construction sector sets out key tasks and solutions to support Vinh Long City, Binh Minh Town and other localities in establishing architectural management regulations; supporting Tra On District People's Committee in establishing a project to recognize Type IV urban areas, Phu Quoi Urban Area in establishing a project to recognize Type V urban areas.
In addition, urge and monitor localities in the province to increase the rate of households using clean water from the centralized water supply system in urban areas to 99.4% and the average housing area to 30m² floor/person.
At the same time, coordinate with investors and local People's Committees to remove difficulties for slow-progressing public investment projects so that works and projects can be implemented soon and completed on schedule, contributing to accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital and creating momentum to promote growth.
