(QBĐT) - One of the important tasks set by the provincial Department of Agriculture in 2025 is to focus on directing agricultural production associated with new rural construction (NTM) towards increasing added value and sustainable development. Thereby, building a green, clean, circular, environmentally friendly and climate change-adaptive agriculture towards building "Ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers".

Promoting the role of "support" of the economy

In 2024, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) will carry out its tasks in difficult and unfavorable conditions. However, the sector will still proactively focus on key tasks, the structure of agriculture, forestry and fishery will continue to shift in the right direction, promoting its role as the "pillar" of the economy.

Accordingly, the proportion of agriculture, forestry and fishery accounts for 18.71% of the province's GRDP; the growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 3.04%; food output increased by 4.7%; the proportion of livestock increased by 0.7%; total fishery output increased by 2.52%; forest coverage was 68.7%; the rural population had access to clean, hygienic water was 98.2%; 7 communes met the new rural standards; 10 communes met the advanced NTM standards, 6 communes met the model NTM standards, accounting for 6.2%. Notably, 2 district-level units (Ba Don Town and Dong Hoi City) completed the task of building NTM.

In 2025, in addition to favorable conditions, it is forecasted that the agricultural sector will continue to face many difficulties and challenges from the volatile economic context; increasingly complex climate change will cause extreme weather phenomena; prices of agricultural materials remain high; diseases in livestock and aquatic products continue to arise, causing unpredictable damage, affecting production activities...

However, the Quang Binh agricultural sector is still determined to strive to achieve the following goals: The growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value increases by 3%; food output reaches 314,000 tons; livestock accounts for 54.8% of agricultural production value; total aquatic product output is over 101,770 tons; strives for the rate of communes meeting NTM standards after the merger to reach 87%, the rate of communes meeting advanced NTM standards to reach 30%, the rate of communes meeting model NTM standards to reach 10%; the rate of rural population using clean water is 98.5%; stable forest coverage rate is 68.7%.

Synchronously implement tasks and solutions

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Quoc Tuan said: 2025 is the final year to accelerate and break through to the finish line to achieve the goals of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress as well as the 5-year agricultural and rural development plan 2021-2025. In addition to the drastic participation of the entire political system, the special attention and support of the Central Government for the province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has also proposed tasks and solutions to achieve the goals set for the year.

Accordingly, in the field of crop cultivation, the Department will direct localities to continue to maintain and stabilize crop production. Develop crop cultivation in the direction of circular agricultural production, low emissions, and environmentally friendly. Along with that, research crop varieties with potential for high yield, good quality, resistance to pests and diseases, good adaptation to weather conditions; at the same time, have the ability to integrate into the circular agricultural production system and develop concentrated production and consumption of agricultural products according to the value chain. Apply scientific and technical advances to production to improve the quality and output of goods.

Livestock development needs to continue to improve and enhance the quality of livestock breeds, while applying modern technological processes to increase productivity, quality and competitiveness. Promote organic livestock farming, household livestock farming towards commodities, disease safety, food safety, and climate change adaptation.

The Department continues to support the improvement of the quality and efficiency of offshore fishing in a sustainable and reasonable manner based on the reserves of aquatic resources associated with the protection of sea and island sovereignty; resolutely and effectively implement IUU fishing, remove the EC's yellow card; improve the efficiency of aquaculture of key subjects on the basis of promoting the application of science and technology, disease prevention; continue to replicate the model of marine aquaculture and subjects with high economic value...

In 2025, the agricultural sector will continue to innovate policies, mobilize resources; develop appropriate and effective forms of production organization; promote application and rapid application of technical advances in production; promote trade promotion, expand markets for agricultural products; consolidate and reorganize the apparatus...

Develop forestry in an effective and sustainable manner, promote the function of environmental protection, and effectively respond to climate change. Protect and sustainably develop existing natural forest areas; promote conversion, large-scale timber plantation, implement sustainable forest management and issue forest plantation certificates associated with forest product processing and trade. Continue to make payments to beneficiaries from the Emission Reduction Results Transfer (ERPA) source; thoroughly handle violations related to deforestation and encroachment on forestry land, resolutely prevent deforestation and large-scale forest fires from occurring, and maintain the province's forest cover at 68.7%.

In addition, the unit continues to focus on the fields of irrigation, natural disaster prevention; clean water, rural environmental sanitation; new rural construction and OCOP program development; agricultural, forestry and fishery product quality management and food safety... to achieve the set targets.

“Currently, agricultural production in the province has shifted strongly from traditional production to commodity production, applying scientific and technological advances, forming a number of concentrated commodity agricultural production areas, creating a number of key products with high quality, brand name and economic value. From now until the end of 2025, the industry will strive to achieve the targets according to the set plan,” added Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Quoc Tuan.
