With seven more titles this year, Novak Djokovic raised his total individual championship cups to 98, only five championships behind Roger Federer.
Djokovic will play just 12 tournaments in the 2023 season but will win seven titles, including three Grand Slams, two Masters 1000s and the ATP Finals. He has firmly cemented his third place in the ATP Tour's list of most titles. If he maintains this form, Djokovic will take second place from Federer next year.
Federer finished his career with 103 titles, six short of Jimmy Connors' record. Ivan Lendl is fourth with 94 titles, while Rafael Nadal has 92.

Djokovic could soon overtake Federer if he wins the ATP 250 or 500 tournaments. But for the past three years, he has focused on the Masters 1000, Grand Slams and ATP Finals. Djokovic holds the record for all three of tennis' most prestigious tournaments with 24 Grand Slams, 40 Masters 1000s and seven ATP Finals. Before this year's event, Djokovic and Federer shared the record of six ATP Finals wins.
If he plays for two more seasons and maintains his current form, Djokovic could even surpass Connors's 109 ATP titles. In recent statements, the Serbian has also affirmed that he will try to break as many records as possible. "Look at this guy, he can compete until he's 40," legend John McEnroe said of Djokovic after the ATP Finals on the evening of November 19.
Ahead of the ATP Finals, Djokovic will finish the year as world number one for the eighth time, another record. At 36, he is the oldest player to do so. Before Djokovic, Pete Sampras finished the season as world number one six times. Roger Federer, Jimmy Connors and Rafael Nadal have each finished five times. The $4.4 million earned at the 2023 ATP Finals will also make Nole the first player in tennis history to reach the $180 million mark in prize money.
Djokovic’s other notable milestone this week was 400 weeks at world number one. He will be the top seed at next year’s Australian Open, entering the tournament with a 2,390-point advantage over second-placed Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic is therefore likely to remain atop the ATP rankings after the first Grand Slam of the year.
