Thailand U17 coach fired.

On the afternoon of April 10, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) announced the termination of the contract with Mr. Meelarp after one year of working together. The decision was made by FAT just one day after the 0-2 defeat of the young players of this country against China in the Asian tournament. The name of this strategist's replacement will be announced as soon as possible.

At the AFC U17 Championship, Thailand received high expectations, especially when they had Silva Mexes, a player currently playing for Manchester United's youth team, in their squad. However, the "War Elephants" disappointed when they lost all 3 matches, conceded 9 goals and scored only 2 goals.

Before losing to China, Thailand U17 also lost to two strong opponents in the group, Uzbekistan (lost 1-4) and Saudi Arabia (lost 1-3). Coach Meelarp and his team finished bottom of the group and missed out on a ticket to the World Cup taking place in Qatar later this year.

Mr. Meelarp and his students have faced a wave of strong criticism from the media and Thai fans, especially when the two remaining representatives of Southeast Asia, Indonesia and Vietnam, have more or less left their mark. While Indonesia won a ticket to the World Cup, Vietnam also impressed with two draws against the continent's top opponents, Australia and Japan.
