Recently, 12 students from Ta Ma Ethnic Boarding Secondary School had a meaningful meeting with students from Luong The Vinh Secondary School - High School (Hanoi) at the program "Tet Sharing 2025". They had 3 days of living, studying and experiencing Tet activities with students in the capital.

The first time setting foot in Hanoi, Giang Thi Nga (8A1 student, H'Mong ethnic group) was overwhelmed by the tall buildings, sparkling street lights, crowded and bustling streets.

The house is more than 7km from Ta Ma Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities. Every Sunday, Nga and her friends walk for more than 2 hours to get to school. As the youngest child in a family of 4 siblings, Nga always tries to study hard, has a stable job, and has an income to help her parents. Above all, the female student longs to go to school so that she does not have to get married early like most H'Mong women.

"Getting married early is very hard, because then you have to give birth and then spend your whole life farming. I want to be a teacher," the female student said, wishing that one day soon she can return to Hanoi to study, to be exposed to a more civilized environment and gain more knowledge.

If Nga wishes to return to Hanoi to study, Hoang Thi Trang (8th grade student, Thai ethnic group) wishes to bring delicious food and the atmosphere of Tet in the capital to her parents and younger brother.

During 3 days of participating in the program "Tet Sharing 2025" with teachers and students of Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School, Trang experienced folk games, making figurines, writing calligraphy, and visiting famous landmarks in Hanoi...

"I was most impressed with the shrimp cake and pho cuon. It was the first time I ate these delicious dishes, the taste was really unforgettable. I read about them online and hope to make them for my parents to eat during Tet. I also wish to return to Hanoi with my family to visit and enjoy other delicious dishes. I'm sure my parents will love them," Trang confided.

Highland students share many inspirational stories at the Tet Sharing 2025 program.

Meanwhile, Giang Thi Ho, a student of class 9A2, was excited to visit West Lake, Hoan Kiem Lake, Temple of Literature for the first time, and see Tet decorations and traditional dishes of Hanoi.

"Compared to the village, I see that my friends in Hanoi are very different. Many of them get to go to school by car, eat well, and wear nice clothes, while many of my classmates - including myself - sometimes have to walk for several hours to get to school," Ho said.

Both parents are farmers, the family is poor, so Ho's Tet in the countryside is simple, just pounded rice cakes, fried cakes, a little chicken and pork. Therefore, when enjoying the delicious dishes on the traditional Hanoian tray, Ho was very impressed and wished he could bring them back for his parents to enjoy.

Ho also plans to buy a bunch of grapes to bring home for her parents and younger brother to eat. This will be the first time the whole family has eaten grapes. In addition, the female student also wishes to have money to buy her younger brother a new school bag and buy her parents a new scarf.

This year, teachers and students of Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School wrapped and finished about 3,000 banh chung to send to disadvantaged schools in the Northern region.

The program "Tet chia chia" was originally a family festival founded by teacher Van Nhu Cuong, with the aim of allowing students to participate in traditional Tet preparation activities with their parents, connecting with their families. One of the traditional activities at the festival is that each student and teacher will personally wrap Chung cakes to give to students in disadvantaged mountainous areas.

For over 8 years, Chung cakes wrapped by students in the "Tet chia chia" program have been given to people in difficult circumstances from the highlands to the poor in hospitals.

With the message “Give love, receive happiness”, the Tet Sharing program not only brings beautiful memories but also nurtures in each student compassion, sharing and solidarity.
