The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document on adjusting the waste treatment project in Que Phong district.

Accordingly, some investment contents are adjusted, specifically: Adding a drainage pipe to avoid environmental pollution, with a length of 750m; reducing the length of the road to the landfill from 2km to 1.7km (Kim Son town has invested in pouring 300m of concrete), the scale of the mountainous grade V road and reducing the operator house item.
After adjusting the above items, the investment capital for phase 2 is more than 17 billion VND. The implementation time of these items is to be completed before December 31, 2025. Previously, phase 1 of the project had been invested more than 38.3 billion VND.
A representative of the Que Phong District Project Management Board said that the project scale adjustment is to match the approved capital source. Because the project was approved by the province for a total investment capital of 55.5 billion VND 10 years ago, but the capital source has not been adjusted. After completing the items of phase 2 of the project, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will appraise and grant an environmental license to put it into operation.
The Que Phong district waste treatment project started construction in Bon village, Tien Phong commune (now Kim Son town) in 2013, on an area of nearly 20,000m2 . The project completed the technical phase 1 at the end of 2022. When put into operation, this will be the waste treatment site for Kim Son town and some neighboring communes: Tien Phong, Muong Noc, Chau Kim...
Que Phong district currently does not have a centralized waste treatment site, so localities, especially the large amount of daily waste in Kim Son town area, must be gathered at many locations in residential areas, not treated according to regulations, causing environmental pollution. This situation has been reported by people but has not been resolved. Therefore, the investment in the Que Phong district waste treatment site project phase 2 is being supported by people and they expect the project to be put into operation soon.
