In recent days, Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) has hit the northern provinces, causing heavy losses in human lives and property. Many public works, especially bridges and arterial roads, have been severely damaged, seriously affecting the lives and economy of the people.

Faced with this situation, the Vietnam Road Administration quickly took specific actions to support post-storm relief and recovery activities.

People from all over the country are transporting relief supplies to flood-affected northern provinces.

Director of the Road Administration, Mr. Bui Quang Thai, signed a document sent to investors and BOT project enterprises nationwide. This document requests toll stations on national highways and expressways to consider exempting BOT service fees for vehicles transporting relief goods to the North.

This is an urgent measure to facilitate the delivery of relief goods to affected areas, helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters, stabilize their lives and rebuild production.

The Road Administration also requires BOT enterprises to closely coordinate with the Road Management Department and local authorities to organize lane separation and traffic guidance for rescue vehicles when passing through toll stations. This temporary suspension of toll collection and fee exemption must be carried out in accordance with regulations, with the entire process of recording and storing complete records and data.

Immediately after receiving instructions from the Road Administration, a number of units quickly implemented free transportation for relief goods vehicles. Phap Van – Cau Gie Joint Stock Company was one of the first units to implement this policy.

Deo Ca Group also announced free toll collection for relief vehicles through toll stations managed by the group, including highways and road tunnels. In addition, Vietnam Infrastructure Development and Finance Investment Corporation (VIDIFI), the unit managing the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway, has implemented a free toll policy to facilitate the transportation of relief goods to flood victims as quickly as possible.

The proposal to waive BOT fees for relief vehicles is a timely and practical move in the context of the Northern people struggling to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. This is not only material support, but also demonstrates the spirit of mutual love and solidarity, joining hands to overcome difficulties of road traffic management and business units across the country.
