Candidates take the test in 150 minutes to compete for places in the city's specialized Literature classes, afternoon of June 7.
This year, about 6,900 candidates took the specialized subject exams, while the quota for specialized classes at 6 high schools was 1,680.
The highest competition ratio for 10th grade specialized classes in Ho Chi Minh City is 1/5.4, at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. This ratio is 1/4.6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted. In addition, Nguyen Huu Huan, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Mac Dinh Chi, and Gia Dinh High Schools all have about 5-6 specialized classes, with competition ratios ranging from 2.3-3.4.
Students taking the entrance exam for specialized grade 10 will take the exam in three basic subjects: Literature, Foreign Language, and Mathematics of the 10th grade entrance exam, along with one specialized subject. The admission score for specialized education is the sum of the scores of the three basic subjects (coefficient 1) plus the score of the specialized exam (coefficient 2).
The 10th grade exam scores are expected to be announced on June 20. Next, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the benchmark scores for specialized and integrated classes on June 24. The benchmark scores for regular 10th grade will be announced on July 10.
