Candidates had 150 minutes to take the exam to compete for a spot in the city's specialized Literature classes on the afternoon of June 7th.
This year, approximately 6,900 candidates are taking the specialized subject exams, while the enrollment quota for specialized classes at the six high schools is only 1,680.
The highest competition ratio for specialized 10th-grade classes in Ho Chi Minh City is 1/5.4 at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. This ratio is 1/4.6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted. Additionally, Nguyen Huu Huan, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Mac Dinh Chi, and Gia Dinh High Schools each have around 5-6 specialized classes, with competition ratios ranging from 2.3 to 3.4.
Students applying to specialized 10th-grade classes will take exams in three basic subjects: Literature, Foreign Language, and Mathematics, along with one specialized subject. The admission score for the specialized program is the sum of the scores from the three basic subjects (weighted 1) and the score from the specialized subject exam (weighted 2).
The results of the 10th grade entrance exam are expected to be announced on June 20th. Following that, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the cut-off scores for specialized and integrated classes on June 24th. The cut-off scores for regular 10th grade classes will be announced on July 10th.
