(Dan Tri) - The leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City require schools to strictly follow the regulations on teaching 2 sessions/day, otherwise they will easily be caught for "disguised extra teaching".

This issue was raised by the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City at the conference to review the first semester and deploy tasks for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year for secondary education.

Mr. Le Duy Tan, Head of Secondary Education Department, Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that before Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training was issued, Ho Chi Minh City had implemented no extra teaching in schools. Therefore, this circular does not affect teaching and learning in schools in the area.

However, for teaching 2 sessions/day, schools need to follow the regulations, otherwise they will easily be caught for "disguised extra teaching". In particular, teaching 2 sessions/day must not be cut to carry the connotation of extra teaching and learning, violating Circular 29.

Mr. Le Duy Tan emphasized that schools need to review the teaching of two sessions per day, closely following the Department's instructions, aiming to educate students to integrate internationally.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, suggested that in the second semester, schools need to review their educational plans, plans for teaching 2 sessions/day, and plans for after-school hours, and implement them in accordance with regulations. In particular, pay attention to implementing Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning.

According to Mr. Quoc, Circular 29 has many new contents that inevitably cause teachers to worry. However, schools and teachers need to carefully study the circular to implement it correctly and closely.

Regarding after-school educational activities, according to a report from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, some educational institutions have not provided complete information to parents, causing some confusion and misunderstanding that this is a mandatory activity.

This affects the policy of socializing education in enhancing experiential, practical, and real-life activities for students.

Extracurricular activities are voluntary (Illustration: Hoai Nam).

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that having more extracurricular activities contributes to comprehensive education for students. However, the organization of these activities is voluntary with the participation and contribution of learners.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, organizing extracurricular activities still faces difficulties in arranging implementation time to ensure consensus among participating students with the organizational conditions of the school.

The Department also assessed that teachers have not received specialized training and have little experience in organizing life skills education activities, so most schools coordinate with businesses to implement them.
