Vu Quang people are always united and unanimous with all levels in building new rural areas and taking care of economic development.

The 5th Congress of Vu Quang District Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term has set 37 targets with 3 breakthroughs including: promoting the potential and advantages of forests and forest land; promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards linking value chains, applying high technology, organic agriculture, and sustainable ecological agriculture. Exploiting the advantages of Vu Quang National Park, Ngan Truoi Lake, mobilizing maximum resources to build infrastructure, develop tourism and trade; building Vu Quang town in the direction of an ecological urban area. Building a team of cadres at all levels with sufficient qualities, capacity, and prestige to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.

After more than half a term of striving to implement, up to now, the locality has estimated that 21 targets have been achieved. Specifically, regarding the 3 breakthroughs, the district has promptly issued resolutions, policies and appropriate implementation solutions for each year. Thanks to the timely support of the district and the consensus of all classes of people, Vu Quang has grown strongly, most clearly implementing the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards linking value chains, applying high technology, organic agriculture, sustainable ecological agriculture to implement the first breakthrough in forest and agricultural development.

Vu Quang district inspected the organic rice model of DT39 variety in Hop Loi village (Huong Minh commune).

The locality has cooperated with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to produce more than 15 hectares of rice in Huong Minh commune; piloted organic pig farming in 3 households in Duc Bong and An Phu communes.

In particular, nearly 80 hectares of oranges/7 cooperatives have been recognized as organic products in the area. Initially, these models have brought about quite good economic efficiency for producers.

Ms. Le Thi Ly - owner of the DT39 rice production model in Hop Loi village (Huong Minh commune) excitedly said: “My family is the first household in the commune to be selected by the district and Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to pilot production of 1,000 m2 of organic rice. Through the crops, the rice has grown and developed well, flowering on time, especially with outstanding productivity, reaching nearly 58 quintals/ha (2 quintals/ha higher than the control rice). Thanks to that, income is also higher than before”.

In addition to connecting with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, the locality has coordinated with the Provincial Farmers Support Center and WAO Biotechnology Company Limited (Ha Tinh) to develop 5 organic agricultural production models, focusing on fruit trees, including: green-skinned grapefruit, Taiwanese guava, oranges...

Mr. Bui Khac Bang - Chairman of Vu Quang District People's Committee said: "In recent years, the district has promoted the advantages of garden economy, improving the lives of the people. The whole district currently has more than 2,300 hectares of fruit trees, 16 large-scale concentrated livestock farms and thousands of small-scale livestock households. In particular, from proactively connecting with businesses, the Provincial and District Farmers' Associations are implementing agricultural models in the direction of organic circulation, clean agriculture, creating important "nuclei" to build circular, safe, friendly, ecological rural economic chains, meeting the sustainable development goals of the locality".

Regarding the second breakthrough, Vu Quang has been exploiting the potential and advantages of Vu Quang National Park and Ngan Truoi Lake. The stable operation of Ngan Truoi Hydropower Plant is a concretization of the aspiration to increase investment attraction in the area. Accordingly, the district has also started two energy projects worth nearly 850 billion VND, namely the High-tech Energy System Operation Center and Vu Quang Hydropower Plant; developed a project to develop Ngan Truoi Lake eco-tourism to submit to all levels and sectors; implemented the construction of rural tourist destinations in the journey of building new rural areas such as residential clusters: Hoa Thi (Tho Dien commune), Cua Linh, Dong Choi (Duc Linh commune)...

Each year, these residential areas welcome more than 100 delegations of officials from inside and outside the province to visit and learn from experience, and nearly 8,000 visitors to visit and experience. In addition, the goal of building Vu Quang town in the direction of an ecological urban area has achieved important results. To date, the locality has completed 28/52 targets according to Decision No. 04/2022/QD-TTg dated February 18, 2022 of the Prime Minister, the remaining criteria have been completed from 60-85% compared to regulations.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (residential group 4, Vu Quang town) shared: “Seeing our hometown flourishing day by day, we are very excited. Building the town into an ecological urban area is a correct policy, in accordance with the people's wishes. This is proven through the active participation of residential groups and people in each project and task; most notably the act of donating land and trees to widen roads and renovate residential houses.”

Regarding the third breakthrough, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha - Secretary of Vu Quang District Party Committee, in recent years, the locality has always promoted the responsibility of setting an example for cadres and party members, first of all the heads of agencies, organizations and units; building a team of cadres with enthusiasm, aspiration and the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, for the people, saying goes hand in hand with doing; resolute in action. Thanks to that, the targets and breakthroughs in the Resolution of the 5th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025 have been implemented promptly and effectively.

Secretary of the District Party Committee Vu Quang added that in the coming time, the district will continue to attract and integrate resources to focus on implementing criteria in building advanced new-style rural communes, model new-style rural communes and completing criteria for building advanced new-style rural districts.
