This year, peach branches and kumquat trees under 200,000 VND continue to be in high demand as consumers tighten their Tet shopping.
According to a survey by VnExpress at many Tet flower market areas in Tay Ho, Cau Giay, Ha Dong, the prices of peach branches and kumquat trees are "softer" than in previous years. At the same time, most consumers often choose mini, cheap trees, instead of those that cost several million VND like previous years.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc, a peach vendor in La Ca village, near Aeon Mall, Duong Noi ward, Ha Dong, said that from February 2 (December 23) until now, there have been peak days when she has sold 400-500 mini peach branches (both wholesale and retail), but the prices are mainly 50,000-100,000 VND.
This year, she and many other small traders in the area proactively chose peach branches from the garden at affordable prices because they noticed the trend of tightening spending by customers since last year. "Small peach branches, under 200,000 VND, are very attractive to buyers because they can be displayed on the altar, or put in a vase to enjoy throughout the Tet holiday. But the most important thing is that the price is affordable when people increasingly want to celebrate Tet more simply," said Ms. Ngoc.
Mr. Duong Phuc, the owner of a stall selling peach blossom branches a few dozen meters away, also shared that since the beginning of the week, he has been offering customers the closest price possible to be able to sell, instead of asking for a few hundred thousand per branch like before.

A peach blossom branch about 1m to 1.2m long, with many flowers and buds, last year the price could fluctuate between 500,000-700,000 VND, this year Mr. Phuc only sells for about 300,000-400,000 VND. "The economy is difficult, so the closer it gets to Tet, the more we have to try to sell at a lower price to make up for the quantity," Mr. Phuc shared. This year, he also did not import many large branches, priced at millions of VND, because he was worried about unsold products.
Not only peach branches, but also mini kumquat trees priced under 200,000 VND per tree are also selling quite well these days. On To Hieu Street (Ha Dong), Lang, Hoang Quoc Viet (Cau Giay) or Hang Luoc Flower Market (Hoan Kiem), mini kumquat trees priced from 100,000 VND to 150,000 VND (including pots) are also displayed everywhere.
Many customers also feel that this year buying Tet trees is much easier than in previous years. Mr. Hoang Viet, who lives in an apartment building in Dai Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem district, said that this year, with only 350,000 VND, he can comfortably buy peach branches and kumquat trees to display in the living room.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ngoc Linh's family in Kim Ma ward, Ba Dinh district has just rented a peach tree to play with during 10 days of Tet for only 500,000 VND (including 100,000 VND for transportation). According to Ms. Linh, a few years ago, to rent this tree, you would have had to spend at least 1 million VND.

Since February 5 (26th of the lunar calendar), in order to sell faster, many retailers have started to hang up signs to reduce prices and clear out their inventory. On Le Van Luong Street, some stalls selling kumquat trees have put up signs to clear out their inventory for 100,000 VND or 120,000 VND. During previous Tet holidays, it was usually not until the morning of the 29th of the lunar calendar that the vendors started selling their trees at a low price to clear out and clear out their inventory.
