According to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, amended and supplemented by Decree 123/2021/ND-CP, the fine for running a red light for cars is from 4,000,000 to 6,000,000 VND. In addition, the driver will have his/her driver's license revoked for 1 to 3 months. If this behavior leads to a traffic accident, the license revocation period can be up to 4 months.
Thai Binh Province Traffic Police also detected 70 vehicles violating speeding, one of the leading causes of traffic accidents.
Fines for speeding cars
Fine from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND for drivers exceeding the prescribed speed from 5km/h to under 10km/h (Point a, Clause 3, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
Fine from VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000 for drivers exceeding the prescribed speed limit from 10km/h to 20km/h (Point i, Clause 5, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP amended at Point d, Clause 34, Article 2, Decree 123/2021/ND-CP).
In addition, the driver who commits the violation will also have his/her driving license revoked for 1 to 3 months (Point b, Clause 11, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP);
Fine from 6,000,000 VND to 8,000,000 VND for drivers exceeding the prescribed speed by more than 20km/h to 35km/h (Point a, Clause 6, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
In addition, the driver who commits the violation will also have his/her driving license revoked for 2 to 4 months (Point c, Clause 11, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
Fine from 10,000,000 VND to 12,000,000 VND for drivers driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit by more than 35km/h (Point c, Clause 7, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
In addition, the driver who commits the violation will also have his/her driving license revoked for 2 to 4 months (Point c, Clause 11, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP).
