(NLDO) - "Mouse Wedding" is a delicate combination of circus arts, dance and folk cultural elements that is expected to attract audiences and tourists to Hanoi.

The Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater recently held a press conference to introduce the play "The Mouse Wedding", a subtle combination of circus arts, dance and folk culture elements.

"Mouse Wedding" combines circus arts, dance and folklore elements

Inspired by the Dong Ho folk painting of the same name, the Hanoi Circus and Variety Theatre's production tells the story of the peaceful life of a mouse village, where mice work hard and stick together. However, they are constantly oppressed by the greedy "cat mandarin" who constantly bullies them and demands tribute and dowry.

The play not only brings a unique experience and high entertainment value to audiences of all ages, but also conveys a profound message about neighborly love, solidarity and the spirit of resilience against evil.

Artists share about the performance as well as the difficulties of the circus stage

The climax of the story revolves around the wedding between Ly and Lang – the talented couple of the mouse village. The wedding is suddenly interrupted when the cat official appears, demanding to marry the bride.

Faced with the risk of losing their happiness, the mouse villagers united, trained together and found ways to fight against oppression. With their intelligence and solidarity, they not only rescued Ly but also forced the cat official to admit his mistake. From then on, peace was restored in the mouse village.

The show features nearly 30 circus artists, dancers, musicians and a talented choreographer team. In its 70-minute run, the show "The Mouse Wedding" promises to bring the audience skillful circus performances and a touching story about love, friendship and solidarity, creating a special appeal for the work.

The artists put a lot of effort into the play, but the circus stage has not received enthusiastic attention from the audience.

At a recent press conference, the Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater said that "The Mouse Wedding" is a subtle combination of circus arts, dance and folk culture elements. Meritorious Artist Le Anh Tuyet, stage director, said that the play not only vividly recounts the fairy tale of the mouse village but also recreates traditional folk games and festivals such as wrestling and martial arts, recalling the beauty of Vietnamese culture. In addition, circus, dance and lively music performances will blend together in a joyful and creative space.

"The Mouse Wedding" was scheduled to premiere at the Central Circus, but after some changes, the show had to be moved to Dai Nam Theater. Before this change, Ms. Anh Tuyet said that some acts such as the circular swing or stage scenery had to be redesigned. However, the quality of the show has not changed.

The mouse wedding is expected to attract the attention of tourists when coming to Hanoi.

Ms. Vu Ha Phuong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater, expressed her hope that the show will be a long-lasting product serving the capital’s residents and tourists to Hanoi. The theater’s biggest current difficulty is that it does not have a theater, so it is difficult to bring the show to the audience.

"We will work with travel companies to invite them to work and promote the play as a tourism product on the tour. The purpose is to reinvest in serving the arts" - Ms. Vu Ha Phuong said.

In response to the question of the Lao Dong Newspaper about the "secret" to attracting tourists of a play inspired by a folk painting, Ms. Le Anh Tuyet said that the program has a strong contemporary folk style but is aimed at young audiences, so it is close to life, with a lot of today's breath. From the music, stage design, music, everything is very Vietnamese...

The circus show "Mouse Wedding" officially debuted at 8:00 p.m. on December 16, 2024 at Dai Nam Theater, 89 Hue Street, Hanoi.
