Talking to us, Meritorious Artist Le Dien, Director of Phuong Nam Art Theater, said that the attraction of Mysterious Land exceeded his and the theater's expectations.
The play is inspired by the story of a drought-stricken land, requiring the "heavenly drum" to have all 5 five-element stones. Through that, the work carries a message about the harmony between humans and nature, between the elements to maintain life. Developed from the work Mystery on the Deserted Island, Meritorious Artist Le Dien said that Mysterious Land was lucky to receive attention and investment of up to 1.5 billion VND from the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City. From there, Phuong Nam Art Theater is determined to perform a spectacular play with a unique combination of eye-catching scenery, vivid sound, 3D lighting technology... demonstrating the effort to "change the look" of circus art to catch up with modern trends, meeting the increasingly strict requirements of the audience when enjoying art.
"We nurtured the idea and built the play for nearly 2 years. The music, scenery, and especially the puppet props were combined smoothly, turning the weaknesses of the theater brothers into strengths through Manh Quyen's choreography. Circus techniques were interwoven to become a story that attracts the audience, not just a monotonous performance," said Meritorious Artist Le Dien.
Due to the attraction of Mysterious Land , the theater has increased the number of performances to serve the audience. According to records, the performances of the play at Gia Dinh Park Circus in February were almost "sold out". Therefore, the theater opened additional performances in March on the 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st (20h shows) and 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd (17h and 20h shows).
