Congress of Quang Ninh Folk Arts Association for the term 2024-2029

On the morning of July 28, in Ha Long City, the Quang Ninh Folk Arts Association (VNDG) held its 4th Congress for the 2024-2029 term. Comrade Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended the Congress.

The Quang Ninh VNDG Association currently has a total of 369 members, operating in 12 grassroots branches in the province. Over the past 5 years, 68 provincial VNDG members have been admitted, the application procedures have been completed and the Vietnam VNDG Association has considered admitting 6 members, bringing the number of Central members in Quang Ninh to 27. At the same time, members have established 48 clubs to collect, teach and perform various types of folk performances.

The Association has made many efforts in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members, supporting each other in research, collection, and effective teaching of culture and VNDG, in order to preserve, maintain, and promote the quintessence of ethnic cultures, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

During the third term, the Association had 14 members awarded the title of Vietnamese Folk Artisan, bringing the total number of artisans awarded since 2009 to 73. Among the 73 awarded artisans, there are 2 People's Artisans and 36 Meritorious Artisans.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the important results in collecting and researching intangible cultural heritages of Quang Ninh in recent years. He acknowledged the unique and unique ways of combining the protection of cultural heritage with the preservation of border security and sovereignty.

He said that Quang Ninh province is a land of outstanding people with a rich cultural tradition that has been cultivated for thousands of years. To preserve and promote those cultural values, the province has issued resolutions and projects on culture, in which the content on folk culture always plays an important role. In the flow of culture, the work of preserving folk culture is directed and implemented by the Party Committee, and managed and directed by all levels in the whole province.

He hoped that in the coming time, the preservation of folk culture must be linked to the preservation and teaching, paying more attention to the intangible part, the "soul" of the heritage, associated with the resolutions and projects of the province; building more folk art clubs, teaching them in schools, bringing culture into life, improving the spiritual life of the people; training young members, striving to have high-value works, paying attention to building the Association, focusing on professional activities. With some recommendations of the Association, he noted and assigned relevant departments and branches to study and advise the province to consider and implement.

Many members received certificates of merit from the Vietnam Folk Arts Association.

In the coming term, each year, the Association strives to participate in implementing 3 provincial-level topics and 2 grassroots-level topics; coordinate with the Department of Culture and Information to organize folk song festivals, publish 10 folk cultural works, strive to have collections of works on folk culture commensurate with the potential and position of the province. At the same time, propose policies on treatment and care for artisans, each year admit 30 to 40 members of the Provincial Association of Folk Artists, 5 to 10 members of the Vietnam Association of Folk Artists.

The Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Folk Arts Association, Term IV, was introduced to the Congress.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh VNDG Association for the 2024-2029 term, consisting of 21 members, and the Inspection Committee of 5 members. The Executive Committee held its first meeting to elect the Standing Committee, Chairman and Vice Chairmen. Mr. Vu Kim Tuyen, former Deputy Director of the Vietnam-Japan Labor Culture Palace, was elected Chairman of the Quang Ninh VNDG Association for the 2024-2029 term.
