For the first time, the Asian Golf Tournament - Nomura Cup 2024 was held in Hai Phong, Vietnam from October 15 to October 18, gathering top athletes from 19 delegations, representing 19 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region.
The tournament takes place in stroke play format over 4 rounds of 18 holes, each team consists of 3 athletes and points are calculated based on the best results of 2 players, the team with the lowest total score after 72 holes wins the championship.
Representing Vietnam at this year's Nomura Cup are three athletes who have achieved impressive results at major tournaments at home and abroad, including: Nguyen Anh Minh, Le Khanh Hung and Ho Anh Huy.

Entering the first round of the tournament, the Vietnamese team had an impressive start with accurate shots to help them reach 2nd place on the team rankings. Nguyen Anh Minh was the only one to score a negative score with a total score of (-1) and ranked 6th on the individual rankings. While Ho Anh Huy finished with an even par score - ranked T10 on the rankings, Le Khanh Hung achieved (+2).
In the second round, Japan led the team rankings with a total score of (-10), while Vietnam and New Zealand were tied for second place with a total score of (-8). In the individual rankings, Nguyen Anh Minh broke through to joint first place with Masayuki Yamashita thanks to his consistent performance with a bogey-free round, 5 birdies and a -5 score.
In the third round of the 2024 Nomura Cup, the Vietnamese team had a great day when they led the team and individual rankings. In the team rankings, Vietnam achieved a total score of (-12) thanks to the excellent performance of Nguyen Anh Minh and Le Khanh Hung, creating a 1-stroke gap over Japan (2nd). In the individual rankings, Nguyen Anh Minh led with a total score of (-7), after scoring (-1) stroke in the third round.
On the final day of competition (October 18), Nguyen Anh Minh had an excellent performance, leading the Vietnamese team to a historic victory at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Team Championship with a total score of -20, surpassing Japan by 3 strokes. Anh Minh also led the individual rankings with a total score of (-12), leading Declan O'Donovan (Australia) by 2 strokes.

Three young talents of the Vietnamese team overcame the challenge to win at Vinpearl Hai Phong, making Vietnam the eighth country to have its name engraved on this prestigious trophy.
