(Fatherland) - On the afternoon of November 28, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism presided over and coordinated with the Department of Sports and Physical Training, and 54 Vietnam Company Limited to organize the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing Golf tourism in Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that Vietnam's tourism has recovered rapidly in recent times. It can be affirmed that by 2024, Vietnam's tourism will have fully recovered to the level before the Covid-19 pandemic (2019).
It is expected that in 2024, Vietnam's tourism industry will achieve and exceed a number of tourism targets assigned by the Government, becoming a bright spot in the country's socio-economic picture. Of which, Vietnam's tourism will welcome about 17-18 million international visitors and serve about 110 million domestic visitors.

Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said that with its existing potential and advantages, Vietnam tourism is trying to develop new tourism products, based on its strengths in natural resources. In particular, Golf tourism is one of the new types of tourism with great potential for development and has been included in the long-term development strategies and plans of Vietnam tourism.
"Golf is not only a sport but also an economic sector that brings high value. Therefore, many countries in the world as well as Vietnam have had strategies to develop Golf tourism.
With its terrain, climate and culture, Vietnam has great potential to strongly develop golf tourism. Especially with its long coastline and many beautiful beaches and islands, Vietnam will be an ideal condition to develop entertainment complexes and golf tourism," said Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh.

According to Director Nguyen Trung Khanh, up to now, Vietnam has about 100 golf courses and is aiming to build 200 golf courses nationwide in the near future.
Recently, Vietnam was honored by the World Golf Awards as "Asia's Best Golf Destination 2024". This is the 8th consecutive time that Vietnam has been honored as "Asia's Best Golf Destination" and out of those 8 times, it has been honored as "World's Best Golf Destination" twice.
Affirming that Vietnam's potential for developing Golf tourism is huge, according to Director Nguyen Trung Khanh, in the past, the management and development of this type of tourism in Vietnam has lacked professionalism and method, and has not fully exploited its potential and advantages.
To develop golf tourism effectively and sustainably, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have assigned functional units of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to research and implement projects, strategies and plans related to golf, making Vietnam a leading destination for golf and sports tourism.
During that process, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism received a proposal from 54 Vietnam Company Limited with advice and strategies for professional and sustainable Golf development in Vietnam in the coming time.
Director Nguyen Trung Khanh expressed his hope that the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding will open a new phase, bringing tourism and golf sports to develop strongly and sustainably, contributing to the development of the sports economy as well as tourism in Vietnam.

Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Dang Ha Viet said that Golf is a sport that is very suitable for the physique of Vietnamese people, and can develop high-performance sports. However, the cost of training athletes to achieve achievements in this sport is very high, this is also a difficulty for Vietnam in the process of developing Golf.
According to Director Dang Ha Viet, developing golf is a concern of the Vietnamese sports industry. The Sports Department hopes to find social resources to develop the sport widely as well as train a team of professional athletes for this sport.
With the support of 54 Company Limited, Vietnam Sports believes that there will be a solid foundation and basis to effectively implement the goals set by Golf, High Performance Golf as well as Golf Tourism.

Sharing at the event, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Phuong Hoa said that developing Golf as both a tourism economic sector and a sports economic sector will contribute to the overall development of the country's economy.
The cooperation of the Tourism, Sports and Company 54 sectors will contribute to making Vietnam an international golf destination, becoming a driving force to promote the professional and sustainable development of Vietnamese golf.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tri, Vice President of Vietnam Golf Association, Golf tourists create a large source of revenue for tourism because Golf tourists often have high spending. Therefore, attracting Golf tourists is very important for tourism development.
By this time in 2024, Golf tourists to Vietnam have not met expectations. The Vietnam Golf Association is looking for solutions to attract and promote Golf tourists to Vietnam.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; the Department of Sports and Physical Training and 54 Vietnam Company Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing Golf tourism in Vietnam.
According to the minutes, the parties will organize an international golf conference in Vietnam. It is expected that the Vietnam National Tourism Administration will preside over and coordinate with the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Company 54 and Thua Thien Hue province to organize the international golf conference in Thua Thien Hue (World Golf Summit in Vietnam).
The parties will develop and implement a rating system for golf courses in Vietnam. At the same time, they will propose strategies, ideas and plans to have a profile to attract resources and international sporting events in Vietnam./.
