(Fatherland) - On December 10, the Department of Tourism of Da Nang city opened the 2024 Da Nang Hotel Reception Competition.
This event aims to help hotel receptionists have the opportunity to exchange experiences, enhance learning and exchange, and contribute to improving the quality of tourism human resources in Da Nang city.
At the same time, the contest will contribute to building the image of a professional, friendly, and hospitable reception team, thereby honoring the hotel reception profession, honoring receptionists with good expertise, professionalism, and foreign languages, and creating opportunities for students of tourism training schools to study and approach the hotel reception profession.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Hoai An said that the city's tourism activities continue to develop strongly and flourish, becoming a bright spot in the city's economic development in 2024; many national and international events and festivals, tourism products and services are organized and put into operation, contributing to creating a vibrant and fresh atmosphere attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists to Da Nang.
It is expected that in 2024, the number of guests served by accommodation establishments will reach 10.75 million, an increase of 45% compared to 2023; of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 4.1 million, an increase of 2 times compared to the same period in 2023 and domestic visitors are estimated to reach 6.65 million, an increase of 23% compared to the same period in 2023. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in 2024 is estimated to reach more than 34 trillion VND, an increase of 25% compared to 2023.
According to Ms. An, over the years, Da Nang has been affirming its position as one of the leading destinations in the region, not only because of its beautiful natural landscape but also thanks to the professionalism and hospitality of its people and tourism human resources, in which the reception team is the face of the hotel, the first and last people to leave a deep impression on visitors.
"The contest is not only a healthy and useful playground, but also a place to connect, share and develop sustainable values of Da Nang tourism industry," said Ms. An.
The contest will contribute to building the image of a professional, friendly, and hospitable reception team, thereby honoring the hotel reception profession, honoring receptionists with good expertise, professionalism, and foreign languages, and creating opportunities for students of tourism training schools to study and approach the hotel reception profession.
It is known that the preliminary round of the contest with the participation of nearly 50 candidates representing hotels and tourism training establishments throughout the city, was held on December 10 with the professional and foreign language competitions. From there, the 10 candidates with the highest scores were selected for the final round which will take place on December 17 with the competition of creatively introducing the unit and answering questions from the judges.
Based on the results of each contestant in the final round (scores in order from high to low), the Organizing Committee will award 10 prizes to 10 contestants. Along with that, the Contest also has subsidiary prizes such as the prize for the contestant with the best costume, the prize for the contestant with the most creative and impressive hotel introduction, the prize for the contestant with the best Chinese question answer, the prize for the contestant with the best English question answer to encourage, motivate and inspire the profession, honoring the receptionists with good expertise and professionalism. In addition, there are voucher prizes for using services with a total value of nearly 100 million VND.
Through this contest, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a healthy and useful playground, strengthening solidarity in the tourism sector of tourism service businesses and tourism training establishments in the city. Thereby, increasingly improving the quality of the workforce in the tourism industry, especially the reception staff at hotels in the city, who play a key role in affirming the service quality and position of Da Nang on the domestic and international tourism map./.
