(NLDO) - Two businesses piloting electric tourist buses in Da Lat City must stop operating from February 15, awaiting further notice.

From February 15, electric tourist cars must stop pilot operations.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee agreed to stop the pilot operation of electric tourist cars carrying tourists in Da Lat City for Da Lat City Tour Company Limited and Tinh An Tourist Tourism Development Investment Company Limited.

The pilot suspension period is from February 15, according to the proposal of the Department of Transport and the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and the Road Law. The provincial leaders assigned the Department of Transport to notify the two above-mentioned enterprises about the suspension of operations until further notice.

At the same time, the Department of Transport will preside over and coordinate with relevant units to study documents of the Ministry of Transport and related regulations on electric vehicle operations in accordance with the actual situation of the locality to advise the Provincial People's Committee.

Currently, in Da Lat City, there are 2 businesses piloting electric tourist cars with about 75 cars, including Dalat City Tour Company Limited (50 cars, from 2018) and Tinh An Tourist Investment and Development Company Limited (25 cars, from February 2024).

According to Decree No. 165/2024/ND-CP dated December 26, 2024, from February 15, 2025, electric vehicles will only operate on routes with signs indicating a maximum operating speed of 30 km/h applicable to all vehicles participating in traffic.

In fact, in Da Lat City, there are no roads inside and outside the city with this speed limit sign, so the operation of tourist electric cars cannot meet the requirements and is forced to stop.

Representatives of these two businesses said that if they are forced to stop operating, they will face many economic difficulties, job creation for workers, maintenance costs when vehicles are parked, interest rates on loans to invest in electric vehicles, etc.
