Former star Ferdinand believes three young players can help the Three Lions win the title

England have had a disappointing start to their EURO group stage campaign, but former star Rio Ferdinand believes youngsters Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon can help the Three Lions turn their fortunes around.

Former England football star Rio Ferdinand believes bringing three young players into the starting line-up will help improve England's play and lead them to the EURO 2024 championship.

Gareth Southgate's England have come in for criticism after three unimpressive group stage matches despite finishing top of their group.

And Ferdinand, who has been a commentator for the BBC throughout the tournament, has put his faith in three young talents to turn the Three Lions' fortunes around.

He wrote on his personal page: "If Kobbie/Palmer+Gordon start in the next matches… We will go all out and win this league! Trust the fearless youngsters, Gareth."

Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon all came off the bench in England's 0-0 draw with Slovenia on 25 June. All three youngsters impressed.

Mainoo, 19, shone when he replaced Conor Gallagher at half-time. Palmer, 22, continued the form that made him Chelsea's player of the season last season, and Gordon provided the direct running the team desperately needed.

Ferdinand did not specify the positions of the players.

Player selection remains a headache for England's coaching staff after the team struggled to overcome Serbia 1-0 in their opening match before drawing 1-1 with Denmark.

The number of quality substitutes puts pressure on Coach Southgate to make changes if he does not want to leave the tournament early.

The Three Lions currently have a slight advantage in getting into the draw more easily by avoiding big teams like Germany, Portugal, France and Spain./.
