Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and the Ho Chi Minh City women's team are the two representatives of football named in the list of 52 nominees for the Victory Cup. Ms. Kim Chi is among the five nominees for coach of the year. Ho Chi Minh City Club is in the team of the year category. Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and Ho Chi Minh City Club's outstanding achievements in 2024 are winning the national championship and reaching the quarter-finals of the Asian tournament (Women's AFC Champions League).
The 2024 Victory Cup is the 8th time this annual award has been presented, to honor individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in Vietnamese sports. The total prize value of this year's Victory Cup is 750 million VND. Of which, the individuals and groups that win the highest prizes in the categories of athlete of the year and team of the year will receive 100 million VND.
The list of 11 award categories of the 2024 Victory Cup has 52 nominations, made by the organizing committee and the voting council based on many criteria. In addition, this list will be updated and supplemented according to the developments of the competitions taking place from now until the end of the year.
Speaking at a press conference on the afternoon of November 11, Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Dang Ha Viet assessed that the Victory Cup increasingly affirms the value of a leading national sports award, deserving to be called the "Oscar of Vietnamese sports". The award creates motivation for athletes and coaches to strive.
Details of the 2024 Victory Cup nominations
- Young athlete of the year: Vo Thi My Tien (swimming); Tran Thi Nhi Yen (athletics); Dang Thi Hong (volleyball); Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing); Bang Gia Huy (chess); Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen (badminton); Pham Le Xuan Loc (cycling); Tran Minh Tri (weightlifting).
- Male athlete of the year: Tran Quyet Chien (billiards); Pham Quang Huy (shooting); Le Tuan Minh (chess); Le Duc Phat (badminton); Nguyen Van Khanh Phong (gymnastics); Le Quoc Phong (archery); Hoang Nguyen Thanh (athletics); Lai Gia Thanh (weightlifting).
- Female athlete of the year: Bac Thi Khiem (taekwondo); Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting); Diep Thi Huong (canoeing); Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (volleyball); Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton); Hoang Thi My Tam (karate); Pham Thi Hue (rowing); Nguyen Thi That (biking).
- Coach of the year: Nguyen Thi Bac (athletics); Doan Thi Kim Chi (football); Luu Van Hoan (canoeing), Nguyen Tuan Kiet (volleyball); Duong Hoang Long (karate); Le Quang Thai (weightlifting for the disabled).
- Disabled Athlete of the Year: Le Van Cong (weightlifting); Le Tien Dat (swimming); Do Thanh Hai (swimming); Pham Thi Huong (chess); Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (weightlifting).
