In February 2024, artists Mac Can, Huynh Thanh Tra and a number of artists at the Ho Chi Minh City Artists' Nursing Home moved to a new residence, the Thi Nghe Nursing Center. The area reserved for artists is building A6, named Ho Chi Minh City Artists' Nursing Home. This place is spacious, has many shady trees, and is quiet. Each room for artists has a name sticker, inside there is a bed, wardrobe, dining table and equipment such as fans, televisions, wheelchairs... for daily activities. All rooms have airy windows and are always bright.
When we visited, artist Mac Can was very excited, sharing stories about life in his "new home". He said that since moving here, his life has been much better. In addition to having a spacious, airy private room, the male artist is also taken care of from food to health.

At the age of 79, artist Mac Can admitted that his health is not good, so he has difficulty sleeping and eats very little. He said he has arthritis and has difficulty walking, so he just stays in his room. "Every night, I can only sleep a little, then lie down and watch TV all night. At mealtimes, I can only eat a little rice, not daring to eat a full meal for fear of indigestion. About every 2 days, my daughter comes to visit, clean, and take care of me. Every time someone comes to visit and talk to me, I am very happy," the male artist confided.
Due to poor health, artist Mac Can has had to stop all artistic activities for over a year, but he still maintains his passion for writing. The male artist said he has come up with many ideas to write stories, but because he is not familiar with the computer he was given, he does not know how to turn it on to write.
Uncle Ba Phi of Dat Phuong Nam confided: "I forgot how to use a computer so I don't know how to send the collection of stories to the publisher. I also want to write jokes to send to newspapers. I can still write, I only have pain in my legs but my arms are fine. Even though I don't have to worry about food and money here, I have a place to eat and sleep, but I still want to work, I don't want to stay idle."
Two vice presidents of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, Mr. Ton That Can and People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi, visited artist Mac Can at the nursing home.

Present at the Thi Nghe Nursing Home, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi shared that she was very happy to see Mac Can and other artists being well taken care of. She said that the artists living here are not only provided with food and health care, but also supported in daily activities, from eating to cleaning their rooms.
"The Theater Association as well as the departments and agencies all want you to have a peaceful and fulfilling life, especially in terms of health care to ensure your health," the female artist expressed.
Mr. Huynh Khac Hieu - Director of Thi Nghe Nursing Center said that the artists here are all taken care of and supported wholeheartedly by the center's staff. Mr. Hieu added that every month, doctors from the hospital will come to check the health of everyone at the nursing center. If there are health problems, they will be taken to the hospital for timely treatment.
"For elderly artists with poor health like Uncle Mac Can, the center has a team of nurses and support staff 24/7. Here, if you have any problems, just ring the bell and the staff will be there immediately," said Mr. Hieu.
