WPP Communications Limited (GroupM) has been fined for violations in advertising on cross-border platforms.

At the working session with the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, WPP Media Company Limited seriously admitted its mistakes, committed not to repeat the offense and complied with legal regulations on cross-border advertising activities.

According to the leader of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, the current situation of "clean" advertising being embedded in "toxic", reactionary, and anti-Party and anti-State content on cross-border platforms is becoming more complicated. This not only affects the reputation of businesses but also risks creating "traps" that cause businesses to violate the law.

To protect the safety of brands, towards building a healthy, safe advertising business environment, with equal competition between domestic and foreign enterprises, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information has been coordinating with ministries, branches and localities to strengthen inspection, examination and handling of violations in online advertising activities.

In addition, the management agency will apply economic solutions to regulate cross-border advertising cash flows to digital content platforms, websites, channels, and accounts that have been licensed or registered to operate with the Ministry.

In particular, the Ministry of Information and Communications has also published the “List of “bad” content on the Internet” (Black list) and recommended not to cooperate in advertising with those subjects. Along with that, the Ministry of Information and Communications has built a “List of “verified” content on the Internet” (White list) for brands and agents to prioritize advertising. The list is published on the website of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information.
