(NLDO) - At the end of the year, when you come to Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, don't forget to visit the "curious waves" coming from the "unique" names of the animals here.
Two Bengal tiger cubs named "Binh" and "Duong" are causing a stir among visitors. The story of Binh and Duong began on May 13, 2023, when they were both born at the Zoo.
Binh's father, Duong, was born at the Zoo in 2014, and his mother is one of four Bengal tigers received from the Binh Duong Provincial Forest Protection Department in 2022. Their names are a tribute to the locality that has accompanied them in species conservation work.

What about the raccoon house? You will surely laugh when you know the raccoon girl "Cong Thi Tai No". This charming name comes from a "escape" story.
Accordingly, on the morning of September 30, 2020, the raccoon was discovered in a -18°C refrigerated container imported from the US. After 35 days at sea, the raccoon adapted and married the raccoon "Khanh Nau", creating a special first love in the garden.

The snow foxes are also the "center" of attention. These snow foxes were rescued from difficult situations and now live at the Zoo with memorable names such as "An", "Khang", "Thinh", "Vuong".
The story of taking care of them is worth mentioning not only because of the dedication but also the patience and love for the job.

Don't miss the hippo "Ca" - a name as familiar as the way she communicates with visitors. Born on September 25, 2023, baby Ca has quickly become a "star" at the garden.
Ever since birth, the baby has been curious, lifting his head out of the water to "take pictures" with visitors. These days, if you visit him, you will see that he is still cheerful, although he always "wonders" why his father Chia and mother Bo have to live separately.

Santa Bear is an individual sun bear - a rare animal species listed as protected by CITES and Vietnamese law.
Sun bears are the world's smallest bears, living mainly in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. They possess many unique characteristics, from their jet-black fur to their long tongues adapted to eating insects.
Sharing about Noel's growing journey, Mr. Mai Khac Trung Truc, director of the Zoo's animal enterprise, said that the bear was born at the end of 2020 to the surprise and joy of the Zoo's staff.
Because, this is one of the few cases of sun bears successfully reproducing naturally in captivity. The baby bear was named Noel because his birth date was near Christmas.

Closing the journey of discovery, each name at the Zoo is not only a creation but also an emotional story about attachment and responsibility to nature.
Whether it is Noel, Ca, or Cong Thi Tai No, all of them remind us of the value of conservation and empathy with the wild world. A visit to the Zoo is therefore not only an entertaining journey but also an opportunity to love the environment and the precious creatures around us.
