The Ministry of Transport has just issued a Decision to declare a natural disaster emergency to repair damage to traffic infrastructure on National Highway 51 due to the impact of storm No. 4 causing rain in Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces from September 15, 2024 to September 23, 2024.
The decision of the Ministry of Transport is based on bulletin No. 83 dated September 16, 2024 of the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasting strong winds, high waves and warning of thunderstorms. This natural disaster situation caused damage to traffic infrastructure at the following routes: Km 4+800 - Km 5+205, Km 5+280 - Km 5+395, Km 23+900 - Km 24+400, Km 41+250 - Km 41+500 on National Highway 51, posing a direct threat to the safety of people and vehicles participating in road traffic.
Previously, the Director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure and the Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, Ministry of Transport announced an emergency situation regarding natural disasters to repair damage to the transport infrastructure of some sections on National Highway 51.
The Ministry of Transport assigns the Vietnam Road Administration, according to its scope and management responsibilities, to deploy activities to overcome the consequences of natural disasters as prescribed.
This agency needs to review and specifically determine the extent of damage to road works caused by natural disasters, repair solutions, and issue an emergency construction order to overcome the consequences of natural disasters according to the provisions of law.
Upon completion of emergency construction and disaster recovery work according to the above-mentioned emergency situation, the Vietnam Road Administration shall report to the Ministry of Transport as a basis for considering the announcement of the end of the emergency situation.
The Director of the Vietnam Road Administration is responsible to the Minister of Transport for the contents of the report on damage and deterioration of traffic infrastructure on National Highway 51.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Ministry of Transport urges and directs agencies and units in implementing the overcoming of consequences of natural disasters on road traffic infrastructure.
