The BT contract expired on June 30, 2018. The Hanoi People's Committee approved in principle the extension of the BT contract. However, the contract has not been extended according to regulations. Therefore, since 2020, the investor consortium has had to temporarily suspend construction due to the expiration of the BT contract.
