In the development of billiards in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City players in the carom category are increasingly asserting their position in the international arena. Typically, at the 32nd SEA Games, two representatives of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu and Le Thi Ngoc Hue, excellently won two gold medals in the men's and women's carom categories for the Vietnamese sports delegation.

In Southeast Asia, the dominance of Vietnamese players in the 3-cushion carom event is indisputable and has been clearly demonstrated at this congress. The final match of the men's 3-cushion carom singles at the 32nd SEA Games was an internal competition between Vietnamese players, especially the two representatives from Ho Chi Minh City: Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu and Nguyen Duc Anh Chien.

Not rated as highly as his senior Anh Chien, Thanh Tu, with his stable performance, entered the game better and won the final, bringing home the gold medal for the Vietnamese team. With this achievement, Thanh Tu also became the first player in the region to win the SEA Games gold medal in 2 different events: 1-cushion carom at SEA Games 31 and 3-cushion carom at SEA Games 32.
At the 32nd SEA Games, the host Cambodia decided to include the women's carom billiards event for the first time. This created a good opportunity for Vietnamese female players to demonstrate their talent in the international arena. Having won a place at the 32nd SEA Games after winning the selection tournament organized by the Vietnam Billiards and Snooker Federation, Le Thi Ngoc Hue (women's 1-cushion carom) soon showed her form as a championship candidate at the regional tournament.

The final match of women's 1-cushion carom continued to be an internal battle between two Vietnamese players: Le Thi Ngoc Hue and Phung Kien Tuong. The representative of Ho Chi Minh City continuously created many series of big points against Phung Kien Tuong to win with a score of 50-17, officially winning the first SEA Games gold medal in the women's 1-cushion carom event.
Le Thi Ngoc Hue is a somewhat unfamiliar name in the Vietnamese billiards community because she only competes in some club or amateur tournaments. In 2021, Ngoc Hue attracted attention when she won second place in the first Vietnamese women's 3-cushion carom tournament held in Ho Chi Minh City.
