In fact, in the morning session, the market showed green, but it only lasted for a few minutes. From nearly 10am, selling pressure increased, combined with the lack of support from many key stocks, the VN-Index returned to the reference level and decreased points. By lunchtime, the index representing the floor fell 3.01 points, down to 1,320.8 points. In the afternoon session, the red color remained until the end of the session with a stronger decrease.
Declining stocks dominated with 293 stocks in red and 152 stocks in green. In the VN30 group, the number of declining stocks was 3 times higher than the number of increasing stocks (18 stocks and 6 stocks).
This session, pillar stocks were weak. Among the 10 stocks with the largest capitalization, only VIC was in the green with an increase of 1.58%, contributing more than 0.8 points to the market. In addition to this stock, VN-Index was also supported by LPB, BSI, VCF... but it was not enough to stay above 1,320 points at the close.
On the other hand, the code with the largest capitalization, VCB, took away the most points with nearly 1.4 points; followed by FPT (0.76 points), HPG (more than 0.5 points), VNM (nearly 0.4 points)...
The strong selling pressure also caused most sectors to lose points; in which, durable goods distribution and retail, telecommunications, energy, software, and healthcare decreased by more than 1%. Of the six sectors currently in the green, namely vehicles and components, securities, insurance, pharmaceuticals-biologicals, consumer goods and decoration, and real estate, none increased by 0.5%.
Liquidity continued to be low with VND17,000 billion changing hands. Foreign investors bought more than VND1,650 billion and sold over VND2,056 billion.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, at the end of the session, the HNX-Index stopped at 238.2 points, down 1.34 points (-0.56%); the HNX30-Index was at 488.52 points, after falling 3.39 points (-0.69%). The entire floor had nearly 1,000 billion VND changed hands.
