Today is the second trading day after the market received news that US President Donald Trump announced that he will impose a 25% tax on all steel and aluminum imported into the US.
Experts say that Mr. Trump's tax policy does not have a big impact on Vietnamese businesses. The most affected group is galvanized steel, because of the large amount of exports to the US. For example, Dong A Steel exports to the US account for about 35%, Nam Kim accounts for about 25%, Hoa Sen accounts for 15%. Hoa Phat alone accounts for less than 5%.
Returning to the general market, VN-Index increased by 5.19 points to 1,268.45 points. HoSE and HNX were in green. VN30 index basket was the pillar of the market when it increased by 7.52 points.
The main index is strongly affected by leading stocks such as FPT, HPG and banking stocks including TCB, SHB, SSB, MBB, TPB. On the contrary, some stocks have a negative impact on the VN-Index such as MWG, GMD, SSI, PNJ, VCB...
Foreign investors continued to net sell today, net selling on HoSE alone was more than 580 billion VND. Of which, MWG was the most net sold (115 billion VND), VNM (97 billion VND), SSI (91 billion VND), GMD (89 billion VND).
