Doctor Dinh Van Chinh, Medlatec General Hospital replied:

Currently, Vietnam is on the list of countries with the highest rate of hepatitis B in the world.

Therefore, proactively preventing hepatitis B with vaccines is necessary to protect the health of yourself and your family.

Hepatitis B vaccination program is recommended for infants, children and adults. Of which, there are 3 groups of hepatitis B currently licensed for vaccination in our country.

It is the newborn dose of hepatitis B vaccine that is recommended to be injected within the first 24 hours after birth to ensure effective prevention of hepatitis B.

Engerix B vaccine from Belgium can be used for infants to adults under 20 years old.

Heberbiovac HB vaccine is a recombinant vaccine developed by CIGB in Cuba.

Injections can be used for children 10 years of age and older and adults with different doses.

Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended to be given as early as possible.

However, the vaccine does not work for people who are or have been infected with hepatitis B. The vaccine only works for people who have not been infected with the virus.

Therefore, it is necessary to have a blood test to check if the body has hepatitis B before vaccination.
