Gdansk Port is one of the maritime transport hubs between Poland and Vietnam.

According to the organizer, the Port Authority of Gdansk, the Vietnam - Poland Trade event is an opportunity for Polish businesses to connect and establish business relationships with Vietnam. This is also one of the activities towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland (1950 - 2025).

The conference heard in-depth discussions on a range of topics aimed at promoting and strengthening trade cooperation between Poland and Vietnam. Key areas of focus included exploring new opportunities to expand bilateral trade, identifying potential areas for enhanced cooperation, and sharing insights on strategies and best practices of Polish companies that have successfully established and operated in Southeast Asia.

In addition, in-depth discussions covered topics such as logistics and maritime connectivity facilitating trade between Europe and Asia, to further optimize towards supporting bilateral trade growth.

Room for trade-investment relations

Director of VCCI-HCM Tran Ngoc Liem said that in recent times, the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Poland has been continuously strengthened in all fields, especially trade and investment relations.

Mr. Liem said: "Regarding trade relations, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Poland in 2023 will reach over 2.8 billion USD (up 5.9% compared to 2022). Of which, the export value from Vietnam to Poland will reach over 2.4 billion USD (up 7%)". He also commented that the two countries still have a lot of room to promote bilateral trade and investment.

According to Mr. Paweł Krężel, Director of the Department of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation under the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure, Vietnam is emerging as an increasingly influential force on the global economic stage, opening up to new markets around the world.

"Today, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, ranking 36th globally. This is a great opportunity for Polish businesses to establish and expand their presence in this dynamic market," the Director emphasized.

Vice President of the Port of Gdańsk Alan Aleksandrowicz expects the Vietnam - Poland Trade Program to become a strategic platform for Polish companies planning to expand their international operations, especially in Asian markets.

Polish exports to Vietnam increased by almost 20% last year, while Vietnam remains Poland's largest trading partner among EU countries, with imports nearly ten times larger than Polish exports.
