Although life is still difficult, people in Xuan Lam commune (Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh) still voluntarily donate 2,200 square meters of land, money and effort to expand rural roads.
Xuan Lam residents demolish fences, donate land to expand rural roads
These days, the people of Xuan Lam commune are enthusiastically expanding rural roads.
Thousands of meters of fences and solid house gates were dismantled and moved 1.5-2 meters into the land to “transform” narrow roads into more spacious and clean ones. These works demonstrate the solidarity, joint efforts and unanimity of the people here.
Mr. Doan Van Tu's family donated nearly 60 square meters of land to expand the road.
In village 3, Mr. Doan Van Tu (born in 1949), despite his old age and weak health, still tore down the solid fence and was willing to donate more than 60 square meters of residential land to expand and upgrade the inter-village road with a length of nearly 200 meters.
The movement of donating land to expand village roads in Xuan Lam with a vibrant competitive atmosphere
Mr. Tu happily said: “After the government propagandized and mobilized me to upgrade the village road from 3m to 5m, I immediately responded. I think that when the road is widened, it will not only beautify the village and the neighborhood, but also facilitate travel and develop the local economy...”
“With high consensus, in 2023, we registered to expand 4 roads. Currently, the village is focusing on constructing 3 routes, in which 54 households donated nearly 1,600 m2 of land, demolished hundreds of meters of fences, and contributed money and thousands of working days in the spirit of benefiting themselves and everyone,” said Mr. Le Huu Nghi, Head of Village 3, excitedly.
With the consent of the people, the road in village 5 has been widened from 3m to 5m.
The 150m long road in village 5 has also been widened to 5m after 6 households here donated more than 300m2 of land. Along with the support of the State, the people contributed more than 22 million VND to prepare for the construction of a drainage system on both sides of the road.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thuong (village 5) said: "For the common good, my family donated 60 square meters of garden land, and demolished fences and auxiliary structures... so that the road could be completed soon. I personally feel very happy to contribute a small part to the local new rural construction program."
Village officials actively propagate and mobilize people to donate land to open roads.
After the policy of upgrading the roads, Xuan Lam commune directed the villages to focus on propaganda and mobilize people to donate land, property, money and labor to complete the traffic infrastructure criteria in the roadmap to build a commune that meets advanced NTM standards by 2024.
Surprisingly, the government received the cooperation and consensus of the people, especially in villages 2, 3 and 5. Many households, although facing economic difficulties, still enthusiastically responded.
To make the rural roads in the commune more spacious and spacious, up to now 70 households have voluntarily donated nearly 2,200 m2 of land; each household also contributed from 8 to 12 million VND to build fences and pour concrete on the roads. This shows that when the people are in favor, everything becomes easier.
After clearance, the roads were concreted.
Mr. Dang Van Hoai - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee shared: "Xuan Lam is considered the most difficult locality in the district, the income of households mainly depends on agricultural production. However, in mobilizing resources to build new rural areas, the commune always attaches importance to promoting grassroots democracy regulations, with the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check and people benefit" so it receives positive response from the people.
From the district's support mechanism and policy, at the beginning of this year the locality registered for 120 tons of cement but now the "plan has been broken", so it is proposed to support an additional 60 tons to have enough materials to construct the roads that have been cleared and expanded in the area."
