Join hands to light up the countryside

The completed lighting system has contributed to changing the rural appearance of Minh Hiep commune.

Mr. Vi Van To, Secretary of the Minh Hiep Commune Party Committee, said: In the past, when there was no lighting system, people here had difficulty traveling at night. Meanwhile, Provincial Road 250 passing through the commune has many sharp turns and has seriously degraded with many potholes, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents...

Based on the above reality, in early 2025, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Minh Hiep commune mobilized social resources to deploy the project of installing a solar lighting system. According to the plan, the commune will install 95 lighting poles along Provincial Road 250 passing through the area. When completed, the project will illuminate nearly 4km of road passing through Na Lai village and Lien Thon 1 village of the commune.

To contribute to mobilizing social resources, the committees and organizations in the commune have implemented many solutions. Ms. Hoang Thi Loi, President of the Women's Union of Minh Hiep commune, said: We have organized a conference to disseminate to all members the purpose and significance of the project to install a lighting system in the area. At the same time, the association has proposed a minimum contribution of 20,000 VND/member to support the project's funding. Thereby, more than 400 members have contributed about 10 million VND to implement the project.

Ms. Vi Thi Bay, Na Lai village said: My family lives near Provincial Road 250. In recent years, the road has deteriorated and there is no lighting system at night, making it difficult and unsafe for people to travel. In addition, in previous years, there have been a number of cases of property theft at night. Therefore, when we were informed about the implementation of the lighting project, my family contributed 400,000 VND so that the project could be implemented soon. From there, it contributes to ensuring security and order as well as ensuring safety for people participating in traffic.

According to information from the People's Committee of Minh Hiep commune, through propaganda and mobilization, all nearly 900 households in the commune supported the cost with a level from 20,000 VND to 400,000 VND/household.

Not only local households, but also some people living and working far from their hometowns, after knowing about the project, have contributed funds to help the commune have more resources to carry out the project. At the same time, there are cadres, civil servants, and party members who have promoted the spirit of leading by example and supported from 500,000 VND to 1 million VND. Thereby, the commune has mobilized more than 100 million VND and installed 95 lighting poles on Provincial Road 250. In addition, from the above funding source, the commune also has additional resources to install 13 lighting poles in some other residential areas.

Mr. Vi Van To, Secretary of the Minh Hiep Commune Party Committee, added: Along with actively supporting funding, during the installation of the lamp posts, the forces in the commune and the people contributed working days, digging holes, transporting materials and related work. Thanks to that, in just 1 day (March 11, 2025), all the lamp posts were completed and put into use. Currently, the people in the area are very excited because traveling is more convenient at night, and maintaining security and order will also be better ensured.

The completion of the solar lighting installation project in Minh Hiep commune has contributed to bringing convenience to the people. The project implementation process also shows the spirit, responsibility and consensus of the Party Committee, government and people in the commune in building and developing the homeland, despite many difficulties.
