Charter capital is nearly equal to SSI Securities, VNDirect Securities

On September 20, VIX Securities reported the results of issuing shares to increase capital through 4 issuances, successfully issuing more than 789 million shares, increasing charter capital from VND 6,694.4 billion to VND 14,585.1 billion.

Of which, VIX Securities issued more than 66.9 million shares from equity at a rate of 10%; issued more than 66.9 million shares to pay dividends in 2023 at a rate of 10%; issued 19.22 million shares under the employee stock option program at a price of VND 10,000/share; and offered more than 635.97 million shares at a price of VND 10,000/share to raise VND 6,359.7 billion, the offering rate for existing shareholders is 95% of the total outstanding shares.

It is known that previously, VIX Securities approved a plan to offer shares with the purpose of supplementing business capital to improve its proprietary investment capacity and securities margin lending capacity.

Listed securities companies have been racing to increase capital for over the past 3 years.
Listed securities companies have been racing to increase capital for over the past 3 years.

In addition, with a charter capital of VND 14,585.1 billion, VIX Securities has exceeded the charter capital of Ho Chi Minh City Securities (code HCM) by VND 7,048.1 billion, Vietcap Securities (code VCI) by VND 5,744.7 billion. However, VIX Securities still has a lower charter capital than securities companies such as SSI Securities (code SSI) with VND 15,111.3 billion; VNDirect Securities (code VND) with VND 15,223 billion...

Thus, after increasing capital, VIX Securities has become a securities company with charter capital in the top group of the securities industry listed on the stock exchange, and is also an enterprise in the top group in terms of charter capital increase rate from 2020 to present.

It is known that according to historical data in recent years, VIX Securities has continuously offered shares to increase capital. In particular, from September to October 2021, VIX Securities offered shares to shareholders at a ratio of 1:1, corresponding to offering 127.7 million shares at a price of VND 10,000/share. By March 2022, VIX Securities continued to offer shares at a ratio of 1:1, corresponding to offering 274.6 million shares at a price of VND 15,000/share.

Explaining the continuous capital increase, at the recently held 2024 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Mr. Thai Hoang Long, Chairman of the Board of Directors shared: “Capital increase is necessary to ensure the Company's resources when the Vietnamese stock market faces new opportunities when the market is upgraded to an emerging market. Capital potential is a condition for the company to "not be left behind" when most large securities companies are planning to increase charter capital".

In addition, contrary to the successful capital increase, the price of VIX shares has recently tended to decrease quite sharply. In particular, statistics from April 2, 2024 to September 20, 2024, VIX shares decreased by 32.9%, from VND 16,760 to VND 11,250/share.

VIX Securities' portfolio is publicly traded companies.

One noteworthy point is that recently, VIX Securities announced that it had just purchased an additional 10,855,600 shares of PC1 Group Joint Stock Company (code PC1 - HoSE floor) to increase ownership from more than 6.44 million shares (2.07% of charter capital) to 17.3 million shares (5.56% of charter capital), the transaction was conducted on August 30.

Notably, in the trading session on August 30, PC1 shares had an agreement transaction of 10,855,600 shares with a total value of about 309.38 billion VND.

Therefore, most likely, VIX Securities is the unit that bought the above agreed lot with the amount of 309.38 billion VND to increase ownership to 5.56% and officially become a major shareholder at PC1 Group.

On the other hand, from August 30 to September 27, Mr. Phan Ngoc Hieu, a member of the Board of Directors of PC1 Group, suddenly registered to sell all 15,552,449 PC1 shares to reduce his ownership from 5% to 0% of charter capital. The purpose of the transaction was to restructure the investment portfolio.
