President Luong Cuong meets with the King of Cambodia

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives top priority to strengthening and developing relations with Cambodia.

On November 28, King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia and a high-ranking delegation of the Kingdom of Cambodia arrived in Hanoi, beginning a State visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from November 28-29, 2024 at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

On the same afternoon, the official welcoming ceremony for the King and his delegation was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace. Immediately after the solemn welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong met with the King.

On behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, the President warmly welcomed the King's visit to Vietnam; believing that with sincere feelings and determination to promote the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability that have been cultivated by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries, the King's visit will actively contribute to the strong development of the cooperative relations between the two countries, for the benefit of development and prosperity of the people of each country, making a positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The President warmly congratulated the Cambodian people under the wise reign of the King over the past 20 years on making strong strides in building a peaceful, stable, independent, neutral, non-aligned and prosperous Cambodia. The Cambodian people's lives have rapidly improved, and Cambodia's international role and position have been increasingly enhanced in the region and the world.

The President sincerely wished the Cambodian people to continue to achieve even greater achievements in the coming years, develop more and more prosperously, and soon achieve the goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.

On this occasion, the President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives top priority to strengthening and developing relations with Cambodia.

Recalling the profound memories of the late Emperor Norodom Sihanouk, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and the King with the country and people of Vietnam, the President emphasized that generations of leaders and people of Vietnam always cherish and are grateful for the good feelings, valuable support and assistance that the late Emperor, Queen Mother, King, generations of leaders and people of Cambodia have given to the country and people of Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence as well as in building, protecting and developing the country today.

Conveying warm regards and best wishes from his mother - Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and Cambodian leaders to President Luong Cuong, King Norodom Sihamoni highly appreciated the great achievements that Vietnam has made after nearly 40 years of renovation, having open foreign relations and establishing comprehensive strategic partnerships with many countries in the world.

King Norodom Sihamoni believes that under the correct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will continue to achieve many great achievements in the coming time.

On this occasion, the King expressed his deep gratitude and affirmed that the Cambodian people will forever remember the country and people of Vietnam for helping the Cambodian people escape the genocide in the past as well as in the cause of building and developing the country today; affirmed that the King, together with President of the Senate Hun Sen, President of the National Assembly Khuon Sudary and Prime Minister Hun Manet, will continue to consolidate and develop the good traditional friendship between the two countries as well as the close brotherly relationship between the two peoples, which was built and nurtured by his father, the late King Norodom Sihanouk, and the leaders of Cambodia and Vietnam.

The two sides were pleased with the bilateral relationship over the past time, believing that overcoming many historical ups and downs, the traditional friendship, solidarity and mutual assistance between the two countries, which has been painstakingly cultivated with the efforts and blood of many previous generations, is a priceless asset that the two countries need to preserve for future generations.

In that spirit, the two sides agreed to promote the deep and strong development of bilateral relations in all fields, including promoting extensive propaganda so that the young generations of the two countries can deeply understand the solidarity and sacrifice between the two countries and peoples and continue to promote the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.

The President suggested that the King, in his noble position, continue to pay attention and, together with senior Cambodian leaders, direct the removal of difficulties and obstacles, continue to facilitate the naturalization of Vietnamese people who are qualified, and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to live and do business stably and legally in Cambodia, integrate well with the local community, and serve as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.

The meeting took place in an open, sincere atmosphere, full of friendship and mutual understanding. At the end of the meeting, President Luong Cuong conveyed his warm regards to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and hoped that the Queen Mother and the King would soon visit and relax in Vietnam at a suitable time. King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his hope to welcome President Luong Cuong to Cambodia soon./.
